What hose adapter do I need?

Looking to purchase a random Orbital Sander ETS EC 125/3 and I see it has a 27mm dust port.
I already have a standard 1.5" hose
I'm not sure if my hose is equivalent to, or larger than, the FT 36mm hose (36mm=1.41in), and the whole inside diameter or outside diameter of various hoses and connectors are confusing.

What adapter should I purchase to connect the sander to my existing hose?

Hi,

    Welcome to the forum!  [smile]

The Festool sizes are the inside hose / connector diameters.

I have not done much with adapters  but I know other forum members have. I suspect that any adapter set up that will make the hose you have fit the sander will end up being kind of clunky on a finish sander.

What size is the "vac" end of the hose you have?  What size is the "vac" port?

The RO will only be used to quickly final/intermediate sand hardwood floor edges.
The current Dewalt RO I have now is 10 yrs old and a directly accepts the 1.5 hose end on the Oneida hose we have.
We use the RO sander to remove edger marks and eliminate stain picture framing between the edger and drum sander prior to RS screening.

Since the hose never comes off the floor the 1.5" is flexible enough and has been working well for years.

Actually, the hose end is 1.5" i.d. The hose itself is prob a bit larger.

The DCS' we use are the Oneida Cobra which uses a 2" hose and we attach the 1.5" whip (above) on the end to screen, palm sand or vacuum.

We also use an American Sander AVAC12p for the edgers or palm sanders, and a Pro Team vac for smaller stuff as well.

Aaah, well , in that case an adapter might work out. I am sure someone will chime in with some good suggestions.

I have the 36mm hose - works great with everything but sanders.
For sanders I have a 27mm hose(came with CT) that I made a short whip out of.  Both ends have the 27mm tool connector - the newer style.  Couple of my tools came with the extra tool connector and it fits perfectly inside the 36mm hose end.
You could also use a separate 27mm hose if you have one laying around.
I just realized you don't have Festool hoses.  Still might work.
Check out Rockler though.  They have really good parts and kits for connecting all kinds of tools.

This is my suggestion. I got the Dust Right Universal Small Port Hose Kit, and the add-on Dust Right Auxiliary Hose Ports to have a couple more size options.  The hose is somewhat heavy, being a rubber (like?) material with a steel coil down it.  That said, it's incredibly flexible, and moves quite readily.  You can either run it straight into your vacuum port instead of your existing hose, or do what I did.  One of the ports fits quite nicely over the 1-1/4" tool nozzle on my existing hose, and the other end uses a different port to fit onto the tool.  I actually cut off a 1-foot section of the Rocker hose, to use with 2 "ports" as an adapter to my existing vacuum hose, without the additional flow restriction of the remaining 14 feet of hose.
