I want to know if the old Planex model 575219 is random orbit or just spins.  I see the old model on Recon, and figure for the price difference from the new model 575994 I could add some LED lights.  However, I am not for sure if the old one is random orbit.  I have never used one of these before, but think the RO would be a nice feature.  So I would like to know if the old model is random orbit, and if not, if you think the Random Orbit feature would simplify operations.  Will be used by inexperienced people on Habitat houses.  Thank you.

No only the new planex is RO the old models just spin.  Better for popcorn but harder to use.  I have been seeing mixed reviews on the new Planex leaving swirls The Leros seems to be liked more for fine finish with little learning curve. I have not used either but will be buying one of them in the future. Right now Im leaning towards the Leros.

Thanks afish.  I will check the reviews.  Thanks for confirming the old one is not RO.

We are going to order the old model Planex and CTM 36 E AC package for our project of building 7 appartments. I have tried both sanders some time ago, the old one and the new one and I really like the old one better. Yes, it is harder to handle, but it also works quicker. It is exactly like the two different modes of the Rotex sanders.

When you have to do an entire appartment, the weight of the sander is what's doing you in, especially with the ceiling. I figured I'd be done a lot quicker with the old model. Forced rotation is just quicker than random orbit.
