Howdy MBH  ;)  it depends on the size cutter you are using. Id have no issue going as low as 9 or 10mm using the 5mm cutter, or even 6mm if you want some veneer over your tenon  ;D ;D

Hi MBH,

I'd agree with Tezzer, I've done through tenons of 5mm in 12mm timber without a problem, I would think provided you are set up correctly (dead straight cuts), 9/10mm would be fine as well.
Tezz, don't know what you think, but could it be worth making the tenons yourself to say 40mm, depending on the position of the joint?

Albert nice picture of the thru domino's!!

I used the 5 mm cutter on 1/2" baltic birch which is really 7/16" or about 12mm.  Used a piece of hose on the slide tube to limit the plunge.  It worked "OK" except on a couple I had a little too much glue in the mortise....  the glue pushed thru the plys since the mortise was near the edge & since these where not thru domi's the 2 mm surface of the wood raised slightly when I inserted the domino.  I then realized that for this application the tight setting was too tight...  I bumped it to the middle setting & the glue had room squeeze around the domino.
