What - non Festool - tool / workshop related gizmo/stuff did you buy today?

I bought the 18v Milwaukee 1 1/8" rotary hammer, couple SDS drills, and chisels.  Now there are jobs where I won't need to drag my 30 some year old Hilti TE-72 along.  A couple months ago I bought the Milwaukee 18v 15 ga brad nailer...used the the day it came to reinstall mahogany stops at a skating rink where we replaced all the 4' x 5' insulated units.  Won't need my Senco and hose as much.

Just arrived from Axminster: the UJK Bandsaw Buddy (for the Hammer N4400 that will arrive early May), a Festool cutter for my MFK, a Veritas spokeshave (beautiful recreation of a classic model), a 225-gram Japanese hammer (to supplement the 375-gram one I already have), a Veritas brass mallet, and a Japanese restorer's cats paw. With the British Pound / Euro ratio being what it is, almost a steal…

Had another cool UPS delivery about two weeks ago.  So, I've had some time to use the Jokers and the carver.  Without a doubt Wera makes some nice tools.  These are definitely a nice step up from the Craftsman set I've had forever that is rusting.

The grinder/Arbortech carver is a lot of fun.  It will wear you out though.  Unfortunately the weather hasn't been playing nice to finish my first carving job (not an indoors activity) or I'd share a photo of what's going on.  Pretty excited about the maple because I cut it down nearly 3 years ago and it is spalting nicely at the core.  Should make for an interesting "egg" end table and maybe a bowl.  Ooooor maybe I shouldn't use this wood for the first project  [blink]

I bought Hanson 3095001 2-Piece Adjustable Tap Socket from Amazon.  With these to grip the taps I can use my 3/8 drive Milwaukee for tapping or a 3/8 rachet for restricted areas.  You Tube is almost as hard on my bank account as FOG.  Check out this site for some really nifty tapping and drilling toolshttp://holemaker-technology.com/

Wera VDE bottle opener. Of course if you are thirsty, then you cannot work efficiently. So it is important. [big grin] [wink]

Definitely something I gladly take the blame for  [big grin] [big grin]

Great choices by the way! And the pop-up bit-holder is really fun - I got the Snap-On version (same bit-holder, but their colors and "Instinct" handle style)  that Wera makes for them. It's great and fun to play with.

I now have improved versions of the two planes that I ordered, now that the blades are honed and adjusted.  Per previous experience, they only needed a little polishing on the back, and then a micro bevel.  The blade angle on the shoulder plane was off by a degree or two, but the micro bevel took care of that.

The Veritas jack rabbet plane is awesome, and the review from [member=4358]derekcohen[/member] gave me even more ideas of things to do with it.  The only thing that I can see that you don't get from this plane is the toothed blades.  I wonder if Veritas would custom tooth a blade or two?
