What other uses do you use your Systainers for?

I am thinking of using a #4 as a filing cabinet for papers I need to keep.  Do any of you use the sustainers for purposes other then storing tools or any item pertaining to DIY or for work?

Hopefully Frank Pellow will see this thread.  He has a really interesting setup using some of the Tanos accessories as well as modifications that he made.  Franck Tetreau uses some as suitcases when he is travelling.

There are some great shots and info out their from Mr. Pellow.  We used to have htem on our site, systainerworld.com.  Also, some good stuff on ultimate garage type of websites as well as some offroad enthusiast sites.

I currently keep two sys 4's in the back of my truck that I fill with climbing and riding gear.  Works pretty well.

They're also great for putting in our lunch room and filling with holiday sweets, chocolates, etc :)

Ha!

Tanos sys 1's filled with German chocolate thanks to the TTS gods

I use a T-Loc Sys3 as a lunch box, I put the items that need to stay cool in an insulated bag with an ice pack. I clip this below the Sys1 that I use for blueprints, calculater, customer file etc...If I could get an insulated Sys3 in a T-Loc I would use that.

Line it with some insulating foam, just cut and paste to the walls...

Sounds like a good idea to me.

I'll post some pics but for now.....

File box
Brief Case
Lunch/break  box
Camera and Picture printer
Systainer parts  [big grin]
Bungee cords and ratchet straps
Truck cab storage  boxes

Probably a couple others

Is that site still in operation?  systainerworld.com is not loading (DNS issue of some sort).

Systainerworld is no longer operable.  I believe that Sean dropped the Tanos line of systainers.  Unfortunately the other large Tanos dealer just retired and sold his business and we are waiting to find out if the successor will be offering Tanos again.

I thought about lining it with foam but am concerned that it would not be easy to clean.

Velcro the foam in. Stays when you want, breaks down for easy cleaning.

I have been very busy for the last three weeks so have not been paying much attention to the internet.  Now that I am again (somewhat) active here, I just noticed this thread and Peter's request for some of non-tool systainer uses that my family has made.

Filing cabinet: (I have one and my son-in-law has one)

    [attachthumb=#1]

Holder for several see-through boxes: (I have one and my wife has one)

    [attachthumb=#4]

My granddaughter Isla's bead and jewerly making "factory":

    [attachthumb=#2]  [attachthumb=#3]

Glass in Maxi systainer (there are 6 layers):

    [attachthumb=#5]

Stained glass supplies and tools in Fogtainers:

    [attachthumb=#6]  [attachthumb=#7]

A clipboard attached to a systainer lids: (Three of us have this style -a different style is shown in Isla's bead factory above)

    [attachthumb=#8]  [attachthumb=#9]

A systainer 3 outfitted to hold office material, digital camera, and netbook computer:

    [attachthumb=#10]   [attachthumb=#11]   [attachthumb=#12]  [attachthumb=#13]

  note: that, I subsequently managed to move most of this to an anythracite  T-loc systainer 2 and this raises fewer questions at airports

First aid kit in a mini-systainer that, becuase of the colour,  can be easily located:

I think that a insulated one is already existing :

I was thinking buying one but not for really gorgeous reasons...  I thought it would be useful in the case of a cutted finger or something like that...  :'(

Frank,

I am in need of a file box like the one you have pictured here, what size did you use and what did you used for the hanging files you show in the photo? If you could help me out with this I'd appresiate it; our portable file box breaks often so the guys were complaining. I thought of a systainer as soon as they brought it up.

Thanks,

Eddy Wilson

Eddy, for the hanging file folders, I simply visited a local office supply store with an empty systainer 4 and found a hanging file folder frame that would fit into the systainer.

Buying three for vehicle bug out boxes. Perfect for storing those items in your car that you need WTSHTF! [eek]

I have three T-Loc Sys - III lined up on the back seat (extended cab , not four door) of my Dakota. One has all bungee and tie downs, the others are for general truck storage and a place to put  items  that I am taking with me. If the seat or part of it is needed for something else (like a person) they can be stacked two or three as need and seatbelted.  The cool thing is that my truck is charcoal gray and the interior is gray so the anthracite Systainers look like they were made for it.
