What sheen do you use on your topcoat?

I use General Finishes High Performance poly, and have always used satin sheen.

But looking at some photos of other's projects on this forum, sometimes they look pretty shiny, and they look good.

What sheen do you normally use ?

I use glossy, then knock it down with a coat of wax applied with 0000 steel wool.

It offers greater clarity than satin, and the tactile feel is much nicer.

But recoating in the future will require more cleaning.

Never use any waxes with silicone in it.  It will be impossible to get good adhesion for future redcoats if you do.

Satin, mostly or a mix of satin and glossy in a few cases. I don't use wax in general for furniture except when restoring pieces, such as this one:

For me it's an "it depends". The oak woodwork in my house is satin, but in general I prefer a flatter look.
With film finishes like lacquer, I go for gloss for the first couple of coats and then "Dull" as the top coat is my favorite.
I have used Rubio in satin a few times. It's a bit more dull, if you only do the one coat, shines up a little more on the second.
I usually do small boxes and stuff like that with BLO and wax.
