What to do with Festool carboard boxes

Good afternoon. As a new festool user i am buying pieces of machinery to replace lesser quality products. I have a Kapex kS120 and CTL26.

My question is that i have only a small workshop and was going to throw out the carboard transport boxes.......should I do this? Problem is they take up so much room and if i need a repair will Festool collect the machine anyway so the boxes are a bit pointless to keep.

Richard

I only keep the few biggest boxes, and in folded form, they shouldn't take up too much space. The medium and smaller ones can be easily found and replaced if they're needed.

Fold ‘em flat - AND SAVE ‘EM.
You’ll need ‘em -
When you need to box/pack a tool to send in for repair/service.😉

If you bought your tools from a brick and mortar shop then you don’t need to keep the boxes.  You can return the tool to the shop if repairs are required and they will take care of shipping.  I’ve done this several times and it’s a good reason to support local shops!

Ritually burn them.

Just feel that after spending a fortune on Festool, i almost feel i have to keep the boxes forever just to remind me how much money i no longer have. Also, i feel if i tell the wife how much i spent i may need the boxes to sleep in. 😂

I don't keep them, they get cut up and put into recycling.  I don't have the room anyway.

Should add that I don't keep the Festool boxes thinking that I need them to ship things back to Festool. I keep some boxes and REUSE them.

Edit - See photo: Underneath this box is my Kapex; the box keeps it from any prying eyes when my garage door is left opened.

Same with me.  Boxes go in recycling the day the tool comes home.  Only repair I have ever had was a Carvex and that was easy to package up and send in.

I only keep computer related packaging. The rest goes into the appropriate recycling bin.

Only the VS-600 box is used to actually store the.. VS-600

I kept a few folded away in case of needing them to ship a systainer or two, should the need arise to send stuff to service - or I decide to get rid of things I don't need anymore.

If it's a Kapex, better keep it as it's big and has special spacers.

And it seems there's a fair chance it will have to for in for service.

Recycle them
In the USA, if you do need to send the kapex in for service, festool will send you a box. ((If festool USA bothered to participate on their forum, they could confirm that they still do this))
Any other tool you can easily find a box for. I sent a drill for service but just the body, no systainer

Sent a Kapex in earlier this year. Can confirm.

That being said, out of a decade of Kapex ownership, it had to be sent in once. Ask yourself if it’s potentially worth keeping a box and all the inserts around for 10 years.

Actually Festool service doesn’t want the systainer on tools needed service.
Most the time I went I sent my tools in for service I use the fix price mail from the post office.

I keep them only long enough to confirm they are in good working order, so usually until the 30 return window is up.  Then, off to recycling.  If a problem later arises, I’ll call Festool and figure something out.
