Hello,

Looking for some suggestions.  I will be getting the OF 1400 before the April price increase (my first ever router) and was wondering what essential accessories i should also get for it.  I do not need the LR 32 system as i already have a pin holes system ( i know, I know the LR 32 does a lot more than just pin holes.....but i will still pass for now) .

First, I might just be missing something but there does not seem to be an accessory kit for the 1400 like the one they have for the 2200.  Is that correct? Or will the 2200 kit work with the 1400?

Considering the accessories that come standard with the 1400, what additional accessories would you suggest?  I Will not be using the router for a specific project but plan on using it on as many project as possible.  First thing i will use it for will most likly be for roundovers.

Thanks in advance.

Danny

A lot depends what you'll be doing with it.

I do a lot of copy routing for making up templates and jigs and I've found the dust extraction is much improved with some of the simple accessories that fit underneath and shroud the cutter. Also a second fence with longer arms (try the Trend long arms for a refreshing change from Festool pricing!) really opens up a lot of doors for things like precise morticing and more accurate grooving.

Danny,

I would strongly encourage you to get the table widener base and the small bore base. These are particularly useful bases for handheld edge work such as the roundovers you mentioned. The edge guide is also useful.

There is not equivalent kit for the 1400 as exists for the 2200 as yet.

Hi Danny

Double check you have the lower dust collector shroud in the kit, the one that attaches to the fence. Not sure of the situation in Canada but here in the UK, recent batches of the OF 1400 have been shipping with out this part. I was reliably informed by my dealer that this was an accessory!!!

One of the deciding factors to go Festool for me was the dust collection; to find out this is now classed as an accessory has not gone done well with a lot of us.

That said, it's a great machine. Another plus for the rail and rail guide.

Thank you all for your suggestions.  Based on what was suggested here and after looking at a few more videos, I have decided to go with the following:

*Small Bore Base
*Table Widener
*Guide Stop
*Edge Guide

This should cover my needs for now.

Thanks again.

Danny
