Hi,
Sure, Festools are not the holy grail, but toolwise, I have had it the other way around. I started with cheapest tools, the middle priced ones, and then Festools. I am happy with my Festools, as well as my blue Bosch, of which I have some good ones, not the green ones painted blue. I have had it with DW (only better models), which kept on breaking down in the most unfortunate moments, time and time again, plus bad batteries from ditto. I have also got rid of my Makita tools, as they had too mch slack in them rather quickly, not being very precise (and their batteries lasting not too long, but that's another story).
We'll see about Festool in the long run, but I am positive.
Actually I like the idea, that you find a machine worth repairing, rather than throwing it in the dump, and hand over a new one. It seems more ressource-friendly, to me alt least.
Another thing is the systems that Festool makes. It makes many small tasks easy for me, e.g. carrying tools and stuff one time, instead of three, up to 5'th floor, or stacking boxes so it won't take too much space, when working in a narrow area, rather than boxes from 10 different manufactures all over, or stacks of them tilting all over the place. Or climbing up and down the ladder from a roof only once or twice, rather than many. This lightness that I think Festools have, also comes into play here. In my garage/workshop, I enjoy the rollerboard for another stack of systainers. Actually I bought some more, just to put my Bosch and others into
On my job, the boss thinks price is money, rather than quality is money, and I had to go back with many tools, and sometimes I take some Festools on my job (they are my private tools), and voila, job's done, no huss, no fuss. Just the lesser noise coming from my Festools, compared to other brands, are worth their price. I take good care of myself, for example the hearing. Or white fingers from vibrations. I am sure more than one person here know the situation. Thumbs up for Festool trying to make those areas better.
Each to his own, and organize it the way you feel best, that makes sense to me.
Enjoy your new saw.
Cheers,
Redfox.
