What type of Fusion Tec sanding pad do I have?

Hi all,

I bought a brand new ETS 150/3 from Lee Valley early this year. Today, I bought a hard pad for it, and then I realized that the one that I received new in the box is a bit weird. The colour is black, like a "normal" soft pad, but it says "Super Soft" and the part number is 498986.

Looks like Super Soft pads should be gray? I don't care about the colour :D but I am curious if I received the "wrong" one when I bought it, and if so, if I'm missing out by using my (apparently) super soft pad on flat surfaces instead of the "normal" soft pad?

Results are good -- just got me thinking I may need to go buy another pad... And if so, which one :D

That is the # for the Super Soft pad. Since it has the type printed on it I am guessing the color coding has been done away with.  Maybe the ETS150/3 now comes with the Super Soft?

There was a change to the scope of delivery for the ETS 150 earlier this year.

"The ETS 150/3 (571903) will be equipped with a Super Soft Pad (498986) instead of a Soft Pad. The Super Soft Pad has a gray-colored backing. The ETS 150/5 will retain the Soft Pad as standard scope of delivery."

The previous version of the Super Soft Pad was gray. The Fusion Tec Super Soft Pad is black with a white stripe around it and the Soft Pad is just black.

Shane,

What is the new ETA on the New 150/3 in the US.

Here i am waiting for UPS to deliver a new CT36, RO90, 1400 hole rail, guide rail adapters and a shit ton of sand paper and I'm already planning my next purchases.

Well is already decided next is the Domino XL set with all the Seneca stuff and the bit set is next.

The new ETS is sure to follow as soon as its available..

Do you mean the ETS EC 150 (Brushless)? If so, no ETA. No idea.

If you mean the ETS 150/3 with the super soft pad, it's currently available.

Brushless..

Hmm then, get one from overseas then switch the plug it with one of the plug it kit.

Would that work?

I know no warrantee but would the cord swap work?

I don't think it is right. I recently purchased a new ETS EC 150/3 sander and it has come as standard with Super Soft "Grey" pad. I then gone ahead and bought medium pad "Black with white edge on the backing face" as well as Hard pad "Blue" Fusion Tec  pads have extra notches at the mounting point in comparison to old style Multijet Stream Pads.

Hope this helps.

It's entirely possible they are different there.

I only know what I sell and can buy. The top left is the "soft" FusionTec pad and top right is the "super soft".

I guess you a right then. I have not see "Polishing" pad here in UK for ETS sanders, only for Rotex sanders.

Thank you

These same pads fit the old Rotex 150. You are right also...

Tom

I've noticed that Super soft pad in your photo displaying LEX sander only, however fitting is still same as ETS. Maybe it is LEX thing then? Just not come across LEX sanders before so wouldn't know really.

I never really noticed that. It's what we have here for the ETS 150s and the old Rotex 150. Maybe it is also for the LEX. Perhaps, as I stated above, you have a different super soft pad?

Tom

Pretty sure the packaging was not properly labeled and we have noticed this before. Works for the  ETS in addition to the LEX.

Should be the exact same worldwide since these products are not country-specific.

Funny that is how US an UK markets differ! After all if it fits and does a job it is intended for, the who cares if it is marketed for one or the other type of sander. [unsure]

Shane, I kind of suspected that! But as I said, Who cares, it does the job!
