I wanted to start a thread to see what others were building for Christmas and the holiday season this year.  I have to build four tables of assorted types for my family and friends.  I started on a Lego work table for my little girls, a coffee table for my inlaws coming from out town, and two end tables one for my boss and and one for the guy that pays me.

Lots of tables and little time.

I started with the Lego table.  I am building this table to provide Lego storage under the work surface so I opted for a trestle design and incorporated shelving for the stretcher.

Looking good!  I see your magic radius formula scribbled on the board.  That was fun at Lebanon with the twin engined OF2800.  [eek]  [big grin]

Nice work Chris.  I have made five Lego tables with two different designs in the past and they have always appreciated and used a lot by their recipients.

For this this Christmas and the four January birthdays that follow right thereafter, I have and will be making the following gifts:

-four sets of biplane shelves (mostly MDF), [attachthumb=#4]
-see the thead: http://festoolownersgroup.com/member-projects/making-biplane-shelves-for-and-with-my-grandchildren/

-three (walnut and birch) crokinole boards,  [attachthumb=#1]
-see the thread: http://festoolownersgroup.com/member-projects/three-crokinole-boards/msg126133/?topicseen#msg126133

-one interior door made of walnut with two stained glass window  inserts (designed and made by me) and with the promise of five more doors and door frames to come

-one (cherry)  headboard

-one arts and crafts waste box (cherry) [attachthumb=#3]

-two jewellry/music boxes (cherry and walnut) [attachthumb=#5] [attachthumb=#6]

-one decorative child's shelf (cherry) [attachthumb=#2]

I will post pictures of these in due course.

Hey, I had better get busy.   [eek]

I am making my Sister a wine rack for Xmas the same as this (made it 18 months ago) Lucky she dosnt read FOG so it will be a surprise ;D Im halfway into it, so i will post the final pick next week.
Oh, it is being made out of Aussie Red Gum, and the one in the Pic is Jarrah

Frank, like always, nice board games ans very fine details.  [thumbs up]

Tezzer, nice rack.  If I have time still I want to build one similar in style for a friend.

I wanted to update my progress with regards to the gifts I'm working on.  I'm running out of time and tomorrow I have to start painting and finishing if I want to make Christmas.

I started my in-laws garden table and will have to fabricate a top for it tomorrow while the glue is drying.  I have a large scrap of Avonite "saffron" a yellow solid surface that I will burn up.

I also had a bunch of scrap parts for drawers that never made it together so I processed the and made six "Handy Manny" style tool boxes that I will give to some little kids yet to be identified.  Time permitting I will process some left over 3/4" to make some little stools that I'll donate as well.

The lego table is all ready to spray.  I will spray the parts separately and assemble on Friday.

thought I'd update my thread since it's now a little after Christmas now ant the things I made are being put through their paces.

Awesome Lego table! I may have to steal some ideas from you for a similar table for my two girls if it is okay with you.

Thanks Honu.  I stole a couple of concepts for this table and combined them with some basic furniture design to come up with this particular table.  I used the occasion of the shelves to reinforce the two legs, kind of like strechers.  I used dominoes to gain more traction at the shelves along with a dado to index the shelves and grab more glue surface.

If you build a similar table I would love to see it.

Chris, that looks like a great Lego table and it's been "kid tested".  Here is a picture of some kids testing one of my crokinole boards:

Cool Frank, I love your table games.  The finish on them is alway sweet.  What do you use for finish?
