Which CTL vac for KAPEX and TS55?

Hi there,

I currently have a CTL SYS. What an amazing machine considering its size.
It works great, but I feel it is too light for my TS55 and the 2 routers I frequently use (Festool 1010 and Makita palm router).
Also, I just bought a Kapex 60 and there is loads of dust.
Mainly doing birch plywood and pine and some occasional hardwood.  Hobby.

I'm considering buying a secondhand MINI together with a small cyclone.

I'm looking at the old model. The new model (Mini 1, with bluetooth and the lid on top) does not really justify the price difference for me. Don't need the bluetooth, and from what I can see, the specs are the same. Or am I missing something???? (I can be persuaded ;-)).

Am I right that there are different "old model" Mini's? I came across the following type numbers:
575254
499590

Can someone tell me the difference. Any advice is highly appreciated

For your saws, expecially the Kapex, a CTL26 or CTL 36 would be better as they have a slightly stronger suction than the Mini. But the Mini would still work, if you use a cyclone. I have a Mini and a Midi with a cyclone.

499590 has the old style hose that is ribbed on the outside, and 575254 has the newer, smooth hose.

Which CT doesn’t really matter.  Get the one that fits your workspace and budget best.

If you’re set on a cyclone or separator - buying a bigger vac really isn’t a wise use of money. The overwhelming majority of dust is going in the bucket , not the vacuum.

A really important factor that hasn’t been mentioned (and will cost more ) is larger hoses.  Especially for the kapex.  For that, a larger diameter , and shorter, hose is needed. 36mm at least and a short section of 50mm is better.  The 36mm would be a good compromise and also be useful on the ts55.  Its not going to work with your small routers though.

I think mini/midi are best suited to what you describe.

Since your plan is to use a cyclone and blue tooth is not a factor, get a CT15 which has the same cfm as a Midi. You probably won't need to change the dust bag for years and years.

I recently got a CT15 for other uses and have been impressed with it. I use a cyclone with a shopvac for my Kapex.
