Hello,

We use a laserjamb (original design) to set our cabinets.  The laser head fell off the other day and broke.  It doesn't look like fastcap sells the actual laser anymore.  What do you guys use for a laser to set cabinets?  Any green beam options?

I picked up a pacific laser ,PLS laser off of amazon. These lasers are made near by in Marin county,USA,
I wanted to get a green one but the reviews said that it didn't work to good outside, and the cost.
I'm happy with the purchase.
Good luck.

Take a look at the Bosch GLL 2-80 P don't know if its available stateside but it's a great little laser.

GLL 3-80P with the BM1 stand works great. Really recommend the BM1 stand for the fine adjustments

I tried with an old detector I already had but it wasn't great. I'm sure it would work great on a newer detector.

As a side note the syslite magnetic bracket works great with the Bosch lasers. The Bosch version looks a bit plasticky to me

I use three of the PLS lasers and have the receiver for those, I also have the Bosch GLL 3-80 and love it but do not as yet have the receiver.

Anyone using a detector with their GLL 3-80?

Yes, Ive got the LR2 and it works good. Haven't used it outdoors yet so cant say how well it works there yet.

Its plastic(as they all are), but really solid build. Can't really complain about the quality at all.

I use my PLSs outdoors with the receiver and they work great, I can't imagine that my Bosch would not work just as well.  This tech has been around long enough that unless you buy at the bottom of the gene pool everybody's receiver should be fine.  The trick outdoors is to start at the laser and back away slowly, keeping the receiver in line with the beam.  I just used my rotary PLS 360 to determine the grade for a parking lot, five foot drop, out probably 80+ ft...lots of fill.

Never realized PLS were located off Kerner Blvd. Learn something new every day. Might have gone out of my way to buy one, since I use to live in rural San Rafael.

I too have a Bosch GLL 3-80, but do not use it with a receiver. Although I have used it outside a fair amount I just deal with the hard to see lines. With Bosch's pole, and a cheap tripod, it works for me. I have a cloth cover for the top of the pole, as I had a couple times the paint was a little fresh and it left marks. A sock would work, as does most any cloth fabric.

Had a PLS 2E with detector for a good while till the horizontal laser stopped working, got a PLS 180 to replace it and still use the old detector with it.
Great bit of kit but nobody I know uses lasers for door casings. Six foot level for the legs and two foot level for the head.

I have the Bosch GLL2-80 with the receiver. I have  used it outside a bit and it works well. The receiver has a course or fine setting, I find outside the course setting was close enough and easier to line up at a good distance.

Bosch are usually really good. I don't recall the specific model but I have a "cheaper" blue Bosch which is awesome with sharply outlined lasers. I got myself a Bosch combined point/line laser, the next model up but that particular Bosch model has a bit fuzzier lines so I ended up not using it all that much.

I have also used three Leica laser models, one Line Level laser and two rangefinders. The battery latches have failed on ALL THREE of them so I am not buying another Leica Laser product again. They have very sharply outlined laser lines though.
