I have to re-do some railings in a house and add an insert into the openings.  Originally there were some nasty curtains in there.

The first picture is the railings.  They want the top sanded and re-finished along with sanding the metal frame work and painting to look like oil rubbed bronze.

I can get oil rubbed bronze in a spray can but, that would be a mess or toooooooo much prep work.  I am looking into options.

They are very visual, if I show them a few options they will pick one, makes my life easy.

How do I attach a sketch up drawing?

I like number 4 but peel the bloody carpet off the stairs. make em some lush treads

Darcy,

If I see correctly you have figured out how to attach sketchup images.

Regarding which one - that is tough based on the rest of the room.  Modern to something else is a big stretch.  Of the ideas you have posted personally I think jpg4 is the one most likely to fit in.

I agree but, a baby is about 2 months away for them.

I let my 15 month old loose up there so they could see what was baby safe. [big grin]

So, as of now, the carpet is kind of a soft landing when an accident occurs.

that is the thing, we are trying to make it look less like the 70's swinger pad it was when it was built.

i figured the red oak and black paint would help it look less sex party-ish.

I should add that they really like shaker/mission style furniture.

That is where I was picking up ideas from.

Now that is customer service!    [scared]

I like to call it salesmanship! [big grin]

don't worry, I put a helmet and knee pads on her so the 3' fall was not so bad. [unsure] [big grin]

It's an Elvis impersonator that came to their wedding. [big grin]

If he was doing the "Fat Elvis" period, then that's a "yes"....

Freakin' awesome, either way.   ;D

(And my vote goes to #5.)

Suggest that they get a cement truck, fill that sunken room and put in a nice floor after you tear out the railings!

It would take a lot of concrete to fill up that crawl space.

They like the sunken part, you don't see it too often anymore.

My wife had a look at your pics and liked the original idea of painting the existing to keep the open look of the glass and thought it would look good with the existing wood. Don't shoot the messenger! As far as your designs go I'm partial to #4, I use a modified version of #1 mainly outside in a garden setting.
