Which sanding pad?

Hi all,

Noob to the group, so I hope I am posting in the right forum.

I have an ETS 150/3 I bought years ago. The grippy thing on the sanding pad detached, so I need to replace it.

You'd think this would be easy.

When I go to FestoolUSA.com and look up ETS 150/3, the accessories link sends me to this (and similar ones of differing hardness).

But this is mine. It looks different.

Mine looks like this one (492286), and FWIW, has the same numbers/letters on it. But Festool web site says this is for  ETS EC 125, LEX 125.

What do I need? Thank in advance.

The ETS 150/3 and ETS EC 150/3 are two completely different sanders.

One uses a twist-lock attachment for the sanding pad (ETS 150/3), the other uses a screw (ETS EC 150/3).

The link and the picture you posted are both for a 5 inch pad, which goes on an ETS EC 125.

Are you sure you have an ETS EC 150 rather than an ETS EC 125 that was stored in an ETS EC 150 systainer?  Can you post pictures of the sander itself?

The ETS 150/3 and ETS EC 150/3 are two completely different sanders.

Thank you for the reply. Those are the ones in my first link, i believe. But they look entirely different from the one I removed, notably the shape of the recess where it attaches. Does that make sense? (Meaning did what I say make sense). Is it possible that more recent 150/3 sanders use a different pad than older ones?

Ya, now I understand after looking at your link.  [smile]

Your pad has the name Festo on it so it and the sander are quite old. I'm thinking that some time ago Festool changed the pad mount from the Festo style like you have to the 2-winged version that they use now. If that's the case, I'd expect the current 2-winged version to still mount to your sander.

Interestingly enough this is the same situation that exists on the newer ETS EC sanders. The 125 version has the Festo style mount while the 150 version has the 2-winged pattern. So, both 125 & 150 pads can be mounted on the ETS EC 125 sander.

Thanks, everyone. I took the advice here and emailed Festool customer service. They told me to get the one labeled for 150/3, said yes, the design has changed over the years. I have one coming from Rockler. We'll see!
