Which Stand is best for the Kapex?

After seeing some of Brice's video's and pictures I had my mind set on buying a Saw-helper and paying the massive shipping costs (not to mention Taxes) to get it here in the UK. With our worsening exchange rate and slowing economy it looks as though I may have to give up on this option.

Any one have any input? Is it worth the money? The total cost makes the Festool setup is only slightly more expensive. Am I missing another type/manfacturer?

I have the portable DeWalt stand (7025) for my 708. I'm not a fan of this type. Not secure, stable or good enough for the Kapex.

Your advice is appreciated!!

I likre the MFT800, it means I can chuck the saw on the floor and have more worktable. Any other type of saw stand is a one trick pony IMO.

I like the MFT Kapex stand.  I made extension wings - you can make just about any length you want -

It's strudy and lightweight enough to move.  Plus lots of flexibility for other uses.

Below is what I wrote in another topic on this forum, I highly recommend the MFT3 / Kapex table.......

I just received an MFT3 / Kapex table (thanks Bob), and I gotta say I am really pleased thus far.  I was not yet able to make any test cuts, *but* I was having a bit of difficulty (height wise) when I had the Kapex mounted on the SawHelper stand.

The MFT3 / Kapex table is 3 inches lower in height than the SawHelper, and for me this difference is wonderful and well worth the expense of the table.  I'm hoping to make some test cuts tomorrow, but as of now the Kapex is sitting proud on the new table and I'm very pleased with the lower working height, as well as the stability of the actual table - it's very solid!

So, those of you (myself included) that are a bit height challenged, definitely check-out the MFT3 / Kapex table!

i like the mft stand for the saw, it is at a better height.  I LOVE  the sawhelper wings, they are adjustable up and down and they work great I have the 8' and the 9' since I do tons of molding jobs.  and with the kapex wing attachments from sawhelper it is a great assest.  PAY the extra freight charge, as the sawhelper will last you a lifetime and if you spread the cost over that time it comes out pennies a day or less.

Kreg - did you cut off part of the SawHelper wing extensions to allow you to remove the Kapex fences, or do you just disassemble the wings, remove the fences, then reattach the wings?  I personally did not cut off the wings, did not want to mark it up, I just remove the wings when I have to take off the fences.

I wish the fences on the Kapex could be removed simply by pulling them up and off, as opposed to having to pull them off from the sides, this would eliminate the need to cut part of the SawHelper wings.

  mike,  no I did not cut them off, as you said just remove them and then back on.  PIA,  and I am glad I did not cut the sawhelper,  looks like I am going to be taking back Kapex #4 i  t is starting to scrape on the left side of the turn table, and this is with the new plate!!!!!!!  I will know on Saturday, and if so, I will also return the stand and the 20 dollar knobs to just hold the saw down on the table, which you really do not need it holds the saw pretty good by the feet of the saw table sit in holes in the mft top, but it is a good stand

I'm going to bite the bullet and import the sawhelper wings, but without their stand. I'm hoping that will keep the shipping costs down a bit! ;D

Here is alternate way to go. Depending your shipping cost for the set up, buy the brackets only, and make your own wings. Hint: do a search for Kapex mods for pictures.

Well, it's not done, but the best stand for me was one I made myself.

The Kapex table stands at 35" off the floor. The CT22 (yeah, I went with a 22) slides into a drawer below, and there's just enough clearance so that I can change the bag on the 22 without hitting the handle at 90 degrees. Setting the Kapex further back also gives me a little table room in the front to put cutoffs. I had to modify the hose end a bit at the 22 to get it to come out of the 22 and not hit the side of the stand without kinking and with an acceptable amount of bend.

What's left? I'll add a drawer under the kapex and above the CT, and I'll add hinged "wings" on both sides of the stand to function as side support. I'll also figure out what to do with those damn cords...
