Which warranties matter more/less?

Somewhat of a newbie here, forgive if it's a silly question. I understand Festool's warranty policy is superb and near-unheard of in the industry, and for that I'm sure we're all grateful. However, like many of your I'm on the hunt for used equipment that may or not still be covered under the warranty.

I'm wondering if folks have input into which tools see the most or least need for repair that would be covered under warranty (given that it totally depends on their use/abuse) - just general guidelines, like Dominos go in 50% of the time, sanders never…For me it's a way helping calculate (or guess) at the used value.

Any thoughts?

First, [welcome] to the FOG!

I have never needed to use the Festool warranty, so I'm afraid I can't help much there. Others may be able to chime in with more useful information, though.

IF you search the Festool problem thread you may get an idea of the MIX of tools and the problems associated with them. Just don't take it as gospel as to the NUMBER of problems, since the only people who would tend to post there would be those who have problems. Make sense?

To follow on from WOW, I estimate that Kapex issues appear most often on the FOG, with sanders the least.

      Note that the Festool warranty transfers with the tool. So you may be able to get some that still have coverage.

I've used the warranty on the Carvex, but none of the others so far.  I find buying from a local dealer to be preferable to out of state purchasing when possible (though I have not always stuck to this myself).  I had an issue with one of the Domino accessories, and also with changing the ROTEX 150 pads, and I was able to walk in and get the problems addressed right away.  Not to mention the several times I've taken advantage of the 30 day money back thing, and gotten a refund/upgrade on the spot, as opposed to having to wait for the mail to deliver the parcel.
