Would anybody here know if Festool has an in-house design team? or do they use a specific design firm?

Whoever is in charge of their product design department deserves a big hug and a kiss (a manly Kraut kiss). Its really the accumulation of all the little experiences when using Festool. For instance: Today I received a new blade for my TS75. I don't need to use it right now but I needed to put it somewhere - I opened the systainer and sure enough there is a slot exactly the same size for an extra blade package. I call it "Thick" design.

they are very well designed tools, but i would not call them perfect...........

kapex: i had to replace the plastic throat plate because it had expanded 2mm. replaced with tasmanian oak. looks much cooler!

trion jigsaw: adjusting baseplate to different angles is a difficult task.

OF 1400 router: fast fix guide bush adaptor is not centered properly.

the rest of my festool collection is as close to perfection as you can get.
if festool ever fix these problems i have mentioned, i would be a very happy carpenter!

I agree that Festool isn't "perfect", but you really don't find this kind of systems design in the tool market. I studied Industrial Design, I was hooked onto Festool by the systainers alone. LOL
