Who makes this container?

I just purchased a Centrotec Installer's Set on sale from Tool Nut. It came with the Imperial Centrotec Wood Drill Set (496942). This set is packaged in a very nice, small storage container that looks like it would stack.

Anyone know who makes this? And/or where I could buy them?

Thanks.

Tanos is the manufacturer.  Festool also sells them in light grey with green latch.

Thanks!

Yes, that's the one. I've seen it as a bit holder, like what elfick showed, as well as with the green latch (the ZOBO bit set comes in this one).

Anyone know where to get them empty? Or what they're called, etc.?

The case you're referring to is usually called a drill index. I've seen drill bit sets from German manufacturer EXACT GmbH & Co. KG Präzisionswerkzeuge, that come in the same drill style drill index, but I'm not sure whether Exact actually manufactures them themselves. The major manufacturer of drill indexes in Germany as far as I can tell is Drilbox Georg Knoblauch GmbH. Drilbox manufactures indexes for a number of companies including some in the USA, but most of their indexes are metal. I also haven't been able to find a patent corresponding to that drill index though, and Drilbox seems to like to patent everything they design.

The Patent for what I believe may be the index lists a Peter Roesler as Inventor and Original Assignee. There's a US patent US7255229 B2, and a German Patent DE102005004253 B4. No manufacturer is listed on the patents, and I'm not sure who he designs for, but some of the other packaging he's designed looks familiar.

That box is not made by Tanos. It's just a generic box made by an OEM manufacturer. It is used by many different brands to store all kinds of stuff.

A manufacturer called Rose-Plastic Ag headquartered in Hergensweiler, Germany is probably the manufacturer. Peter Roesler is listed as Chairman of the Supervisory Board. The index is called the Rose Box and comes in different varieties. Rose-Plastic also makes some of the other packaging used by Festool.

Wow, Rip Van Winkle! That's some impressive research!

Rose Plastic is the manufacturer. Inside the lid of the container is a mark that I thought was a random injection mold mark. Turns out, it's the Rose Plastic logo.

I've sent them an inquiry to see if they are available retail (though I doubt it).

Will let you know.

Are you sitting down?

I just phoned Rose Plastic UK and they have told me:
  • The box we are referring to is called the "RoseBox"
  • Festool Drill Set 495128 uses the RoseBox Size 4A 200 x 115 x 42 mm
  • RoseBox Size 4A 200 x 115 x 42 mm is their most commonly used size
  • Minimum order quantity is 2500 @ £139.25 per 100 +VAT
  • For custom boxes they need a minimum order quantity of 10,000
  • Price excludes length stop - just the bare plastic box
  • They are manufactured and shipped in/from China
  • You cannot buy direct from Rose Plastic unless you buy 2500
  • Boxes are not available to buy separetely from any random online seller anywhere period
  • She said sorry  [big grin]

I've got my Festool supplier on the case trying to find out if the case used in 495128 is available to order separately.

Just heard back from them and the case is not a spare part; spare cases are not stocked as the sets are made up complete.  Only other option is to buy a full set with case and sell the guts of it and keep the case.

Wow! Awesome find Rip!
I think I recognize a few other products from rose plastics... The bit case for the 3-8mm stubby bit set and the holder that Domino XL bits come in both look to be on that page.

Never ceases to amaze me how companies miss opportunities to make money.

This observation has come up before regarding Festool, and now this company.

People should realise that both in European law and in laws of its separate countries, there is often a difference made between companies that sell to other companies (wholesale) and those who sell to private consumers.

These laws offer many favourable conditions regarding taxes and other incentives for wholesale between companies, and are meant to stimulate the economy. Downside is that those laws make it difficult or even illegal for private persons to buy that way.

See bullet point number 2.  Actually, see bullet points 1 and 2.

I've seen them. I don't understand why you feel the need to point them out again. Just offering an explanation why companies seem to miss out on opportunities to make money as that seems to amaze you. Because of laws and regulations. For instance.

I actually remembered seeing the Rose index in a past patent search, but I don't recall seeing who had actually manufactured it. I was actually wondering who the manufacturer of some of the other packaging items Festool uses and it turns out Rose is also the manufacturer.

This thread shows a serious commitment along with a bunch of motivation on the part of Festool owners.

So whom is gonna spring for the first order of 2500 lol....

Im about to spend my last 2K on a SawStop so its not gonna be me ;)
