Why is the 5mm router bit (491066) threaded on the bottom?

Besides the router, does it have another application that requires the threads?

I cannot really see it properly and not having one myself. Is it a domino cutter?

It fits on various line boring machines. They thread onto the spindles.

There are other brands you can get here. Delta used to market one for small shops.

The cabinet shop our company uses has a shelf peg machine that holds 60 of those kind of bits.  Whats interesting one side spins clockwise and the othe spins counter closckwise.  Its expensive if you have to buy 60 bits.
