Why arent there more Maffell distributors?
Is it that Maffell likes to keep numbers down or is it that no-one wants to carry such an expensive product?

Also, do you guys think the prices are so high because of lack of distribution? Or are the prices on Timberwolf so high because they are the best tools out there?

All I know is I want most of their line up. However I cannot justify spending the absurd amounts of money to get them.
Why dont they launch a NA campaign similiar to how Festool broke into the USA? Or is it just a matter of time before Woodcraft etc, starts to stock them?

Either way im hoping costs will come down ever so slightly, so that we all can own what we deserve, the BEST.

I think you'll find they look upon any potential new market at a pest.

The "BEST" would involve good service ... and maybe the odd polite interaction ...

Mafell were sold by Axminster in the Uk - they've stopped - weren't selling enough. They were also listed by a catalogue type retailer called Screwfix who I think belong to the UK equvalent of Home Depot - B & Q. They stopped also.
I'd like a coule of mafell items but amnot suepre where to go.

Existing channels may work - but their interest in new markets ? Well, let's just leave it at I'll never touch their products no matter he technically brilliant they are.

If you have interest in my experience, pm me. I won't vent further on the FOG.

I've had this conversation with several Mafell dealers and early Festool dealers in the USA.

The story is that Mafell manufactured some of the early Festool products which were sold in the US market.  Mafell had there line of tools but was not interested in the US market due to high costs to enter and maintain dealership.  From what I was told is that Festool invested heavily(for years) before turning profit in the US.  In fact Mafell Manufactured the original 2200 router and Mafell was shocked at the price they were selling it for.....supposedly Festool was selling at or near cost.

My opinion is that Mafell has a different business Model and is a smaller company therefore growth will work differently.  Festool being a sister company has a large safety net and capital for investment.

Like any product the Dealer can make or brake the product to the Consumer.  With the new Changes with Mafell North America and Timberwolf I'm hopeful for a good reliable dealer.  I talked with the owner of TimberWolf this week and he has a strong desire to meet the needs of his clients and is willing to take ownership of any problems related to a product.....so we will see now that Timberwolf is the only remaining Mafell Dealer in the US.
