WIA Midwest - Cincinnati, November 2-3

I'll just be in the marketplace both days unless some classes are still open.  I will be helping at the Bridge City Tool Works booth some of the time.

Any of you guys buy anything at the show?

I bought a square from Woodpeckers, a small chisel plane from Woodcraft and ordered a Veritas router plane. I was hoping Lie-Nielsen was giving a show discount, but since they weren't I ordered from Lee Valley.

I picked up a shooting board from Tico Vogt and some dovetail chisels from Blue Spruce (via "The Best Things").  I bought a LN #9 miter plane to go with it; they had no discount, but the shipping is free.  I stopped in on their Maine factory last summer and everything is 10% off everyday when you pick it up there.  I had a great time with John, Mike and the Bridge City "Dream Team" in their booth.  I am ordering a Bridge City Tool HP6v2 molding plane now that I am home.

I looked at (actually drooled on) the Vogt shooting board. That is a really nice tool. It's just a lot of money. Very well made though. Alex, you have the ultimate combo with the L-N plane. I didn't buy any tools this round. I'm waiting on the L-N plow plane that's supposed to be in the works. Bought a couple of books which are a great deal at Popular Woodworking.

Actually the ultimate combo involves the LN #51.  That is a sweet piece of tool.

I tried both and the #9 fit my hand (& wallet) just fine.  I may get a #51 someday, but the #9 will do for now.  He also had a #5 and it worked, too, but not as well as the others.
