Will be Festool handheld grinder work on normal footpath cement?

I’ve got a nature strip tree that keeps lifting our footpath.
I just started tripping on.
Can I cut the full length of the footpath section
and or grind down others edges?

Cements really easy to grind and I've done my own footpaths at times, but it generates a dust cloud like nothing I've seen!

Definitely not good without PPE AND really good dust extraction using a shroud on the grinder. Lack of dust extraction also means the fine cement dust will be covering all the insides of the grinder and this will affect it over time.

And you don't need to spend a massive amount on the wheels, as I've found even the cheap 5/6" grinding wheels off Ebay or Bunnings perform admirably. The benefit from Bunnings of course that you can also get a snag!

How thin is that footpath?

Or did I miss Festool releasing a 230mm grinder?

Footpaths in our suburbs in Victoria are usually around 50-60mm thick. They grind down really easily though.

Well, there was the DSC AG 230 system for exactly this type of a job .. do not believe these were ever available in the US though.

IMO Festool made a total miss in that they did not make a custom gearbox shell for the AGC 18 that could make it compatible with the DCC-AG 125 series, DCG-AG 125 and the DCC-AG 125 FH series and instead they used the Fein arbor which is incompatible.

I had made myself shims so they work with it and now the DCG-AG shroud almost does not leave the  AGC 18, it is so useful. I also have the DCC-AG 125 thingie and it is absolutely fantastic for small jobs here and there even with the battery powered grinder.

@OP
You may want to look at Fein-branded 150mm /6"/ disc covers and use a 6" grinding disc.

The AGC 18 has a sufficiently low top speed that 6" discs can be used with it - all one needs is the Fein cover (Fein sells the same grinder in a 150 mm version just with a different cover).

Otherwise it is absolutely capable. Just as shame the DSC-AGC 18-125 FH shroud is not offeren in the US. These are the cases why the original DCC-AG 125 FH was/is offered also stand alone in Europe.

Look at Metabo, I have their cutter and surface grinder, dust collection is amazing, when I bought their track was not yet available for the cutter so I use Makita track.

I agree with that statement 100%  [thumbs up]

I'm currently grinding a cement slab with my AGC 18 and a cheap masonry blade. It works well but you'll go through a battery in 15 minutes or less, keep several at the ready.
As far as the dust goes, I fire up a Stihl leaf blower, put it on idle and let it blow the dust away from me. As I move along, I also move the Stihl...that works well.
