Will the mini/midi vacs take the bigger hose?

speed, i was thinking the same thing and originally thought i would sell my mini and put the money towards a ctl26, its probably worth keeping the mini for your hand tools and get something else for the saw, i think would be great on longer jobs but im rarely on jobs over a week and the thought of carrying 2 vacs around isnt too appealing....decisions.decisions.....

Im the same if I was on the job and could leave my tools on the job I dont mind transporting both my Vacs  and like you said rarely longer than a week but I still think if your on it more than a few days as long as you can leave it on the job its fine but you cant always plus I dont like leaving my tools on the job! They are my precious!!!  

Thats why I looked at buying a Super long hose but the suction loss is so great you might aswell not bother even though!  Festool claim der is no suction loss on a hose 15 meters long

jmb do you hold your breath and close your eyes making a cut with no vac on the kapex?  i tried building a deck with no vac and the kapex shoots dust up once its plunged and you get showered

i dont like leaving tools on jobs either, id rather pack them back in the van everyday

I have 2 vacs and wouldn't want to be without 1 of them. One is the Mini and the other the 26, and it is very nice to be able to use the right vac with the right tool. Sanders go with the Mini and saws/routers/planers with the 26. It is also very handy to be able to leave one vac at a jobsite and still have a second when I need to do something at home or at another job.

Incorrect JMB, one dealer might have said that to you, but I have read multiple sources like their catalog, websites and brochures where they recommend not to go beyond 7 meters of length due to loss of suction.

No, they all come with the 27 mm hose. If you want the bigger 36 mm or even the 50 mm hose you'll have to buy it seperately.

I am correct what I said! cus Festool said not Dealer  Festool Said to the dealer over the phone it will do 15 meters I know my dealer would not lie to me.  I got a full refund and FESTOOL picked up my hose because it was false information.   I did not read the catalog nor did I check webistes    Maybe this festool person was wrong but it was still a festool employee who said it.   So I am not wrong what I said I was told wrong so I am not incorrect Im just repeating what I was told.

It doesnt throw dust towards you it spits it behind the saw and through the dust port.  Well mine does.  I dont know but most site workers dont use vacuums  most never heard of festool or Fein vacs sooo  I dont know how you can say its like not normal to use with out a vac well thats what your implying any way.    So basically all normal joiners who dont use vacs by the way  always have their eyes close and hold their breath with all der power tools.

I agree, used a mitre saw for 25 years and adding a vac is only something I've done for the last year or so. Had my Kapex a month of so now and only used it once with a vac. Eyes were open and I breathed but these were small cut of cornice n pelmet.

One of my next purchases must be a CTL 26 or midi (can't make my mind up) as turning a separate vac on before the saw is a real PITA

Whatever you get dont get the mini as much as i love mine i wished i spent the extra few quid and got the midi, the bags fill far too quickly

if i were to buy a new vac do you have the option for the bigger hose ie if i were to buy a ctl26 could i have the bigger hose instead at time of purchase as i understand the hose itself is quite expensive?...

Or you could pick up the Tradesman/ Installers clean up kit. Has the larger hose and with all the extras it is worth the cost... We all have to cleanup..... Right?????

I have both a CT 26 and Midi (owned the Midi first, and well before the 26 & 36 came out).
I like them both very, very much, and agree that both can have their place.

But frankly, I'd rather have two CT26s.  You then only have to invest in one size of bag, and you can use any size hose, and have Sys/Sortainers riding on top.

For me, I could then leave my 26 setup under my MFT workstation, and another 26 for mobile and in-home (my own home) use.
For the physical size and empty weight, there's isn't really that much difference.  On both you can coil up the 27mm hose in the garage and off you go...
I have the tube & nozzle holder installed on my 26, and find that immensely convenient-- that's another big plus for the CT26's mobility.

As an aside, I would NOT have purchased the 22 or 33.  The carrying handle area and integrated hose / cord garage AND the lift-off motor for bag changes is far better.  But if all things were equal, I'd 'swap' my Midi for a 26 in a heartbeat.

the Midi works with the 36 hose (I would recommend it for the Kapex anyway) and you can put a Systainer on top. I did it with a Dust Deputy on a Systainer, see:

Although for the Kapex and the addition to put the new WCR1000 on top, you should consider buying the CTL26 instead. I will porbably sell my Midi and switch to the CTL26 soon.

Just buy two CTL26 vacs and sell ur mini!  Job done! lol

I prefer my CT22 over the CTL26  for 5 reasons!

1. I like not having the hose carriage on it takes up space in my van where I could have had TWO systainer 2s instead the CTL26 is fixed hose carriage and I now have lost out on 2 systainer storage area.

2. The hose carriage is designed to store your hose well if you are like me you have a 4 meter 36mm hose well it wont fit in the hose carriage so its a waist of space again

3. It makes the Vacuum bigger and more clumsy to carry (hose carriage)

4. On the back where you rap your lead up well on both the CT22 and CTL26 has two notches for when you have completely rapped you lead up to hook your lead onto to stop it from coming off WELL the CT22 its a nice tight fit the CTL26 is loose so loose that the cable just falls off dont know why they bothered putting them notches on the CTL26 as they are no good

5. Cus my CT22 is older I can be a little less careful with it and my CTL26 is newer as you all know when something is newish and clean you look after it more

What I look like about the CTL26 is the extra capacity and the top comes of completely
