Hello all,

I am looking to expand my new miter saw out this weekend and need to start getting the fence parts.  I like the price of the Kreg, but don't like the feedback that the stops suck.  I also really like the looks of the Woodhaven, but don't know much about their parts.  I think the Fastcap is really elegant, but don't like the price.

Let me be perfectly blunt... this is not for a Kapex... but for a Hitachi slider.  So far I am leaning towards the Woodhaven components, but would have to pickup a few stick on tapes that have metric.  Any advice is valued.

cheers.  Bryan.

Malte,

Actually I did it on purpose. I do love the Incra stuff but a mate of mine made a fence with incra stuff and even has some woodpecker flip stops and it is nice, just not seeing it as a solution for crown and such.

I want a little bit more out of it. I might find some use for the incra rails, but not sure about the woodpecker stops.

I have the FastCap and a Hitachi 12 inch slider. I know it is expensive but it is extremely well built and well thought out. Paul and his crew have refined this design and seem to have thought of everything. I do not do wood working for a living but this thing is built like a tank and I think it could easily stand the daily grind and being moved from site to site. When I don't need to use my miter saw this stores easily and takes up very little space.

When using it, after you take the time to set it up accurately once, I get repeatability of cuts and it is very accurate.

With FastCap you could start small and add on as your needs and budget dictate.

I love mine, your mileage may vary.

I have the Fastcap Best Fence for Kapex.  Mine is the version that attaches to the Kapex MFT and I love it.  The stand is well designed and very sturdy.  I can't speak for there all in one type stands but if the quality is similar to mine you can't go wrong.  What about there bench mount setup?

I am very keen on the Fastcap bench setup.  I am still evaluating the price though!  [wink]

I have also thought about buying one or two of the Kapex adapters for the fence as well.  As I said, I don't own a Kapex, but I do own a CMS-VL which has the same v-groove channel which i could use the fence as an infeed/outfeed on my VL.  I am looking to be modular yet effective in my home shop.  I have the room for dedicated stations, but like having plenty of room for roaming about!

Thanks for the input all.  Bryan.

I have the FastCap Best for the Kapex , my only gripe about the set up is the adapters the connect the fences to the saw . Over time mine have worked loose and never line up , there's far to much flex in those plastic connecters .  I think aluminum would have been a much better choice for this part . I hope Paul is reading this and considers this suggestion to make whats a great fence system even better .    Those rubber hoses for the pins need to go too , they don't hold up over time  .
