WoodPecker SpinRite motor

I've been looking for a Router for a new table I'll be putting together soon and saw the Spinrite show up a week or so ago.  I was just about to pull the trigger on the Bora, which is currently on sale at Woodcraft for $219.00.  Except for the color, it seems to be identical to the Spinrite, only $30 cheaper?  After reading the comments on this thread, I've decided to go the Spindle route instead.  Will show it here on the FOG when I get it done .. but might be a month or so.

The Bora Portamate - PM-P254 appears to have standard router collets. It does not have the ER-20 collets.

Today I received the SpinRite motor for my router table.  I removed the 7518 Porter Cable motor from the Woodpecker router lift & installed the SpinRite motor.
Swapping the motors was very easy. The soft start is very nice. The SpinRite runs smoother & quieter than the Porter Cable.
The ER 20 collet is also very nice. I did some test cuts with a round over bit. The cuts were glass smooth. I never got cuts this smooth with the Porter Cable.

I understand its probably a good technology but my needs are not as diverse as a lot of folks.  If I buy a ER20 1/2" collet, can I use that on more than one router type?  I recently recently on this forum that you should stick with the collets that are for that router.

I don't think this question got answered, not that I saw anyway.

ER20 collets and nuts should be usable on any other tool that uses the ER20 system. So you can buy one set of collets, or just those collets you think you'll need, and use them on multiple machines.

You will not however be able to use those collets on any of your current routers. They use a completely different style collet and nut.

And while the nuts or collets of various manufacturers may fit other brands, it is best not to mix and match. For instance the nuts and collets for my older PC690 routers fit my Milwaukee 5616 router. The collet 'appears' to seat properly and the nut spins on nicely, but I don't trust it so I don't interchange them.

Fortunately the nuts on the Milwaukee are plated and those for the PC690 are black so it's easy to tell them apart. But not as easy for the collets themselves, so I am careful to keep them segregated which is pretty easy for me since the Milwaukee is in the basement shop and the PC690s are in the other shop attached to the garage.

Thanks for the extra info Bob.  I got my SpinRite a couple weeks ago but the PRL V2 is still not available so I haven't played with the motor yet.  I hope WP starts offering the 8mm EC20 collet.  But other than that, I am ready to go once the lift gets here.  I have been using my Triton in my WP table and I happy with it so I hope the SpinRite setup is even better.

I bought an 8mm (ER-11) collet (and matching nut) from Maritool, and the quality seemed quite good --- I'm sure their ER-20 stuff would be fine as well.

I believe the Precise Bits folks also offer ER collets in various sizes.
