Woodpeckers new MFT Square

I guess the way I look at it is if the tool that one uses to make this tool square works, then why do I need to spend major $$$$ on the MFT Square?

My thoughts exactly. I don't use my MFT a lot...yet. I am a fan of many of the Woodpecker tools, but this seems quite pricey for something that they even advise can be squared with a 1281. I'm still on the fence though, I may end up buying it because it's "cool".

I think the difference is that this new triangle has a 1" lip against each surface to be squared.  The other squares will work, however this triangle is just a little more convenient to use...kind of a purpose built tool for the MFT. 
If you're happy with what you've got, then that's great.  For those of us who are still looking...this is def one to consider.  Just another option and I love to have options...don't you?

No doubt it is a beautiful tool. I like their products and do my best to support US manufacturing, but sometimes the prices are much to high. This is one of those times.  [sad]

Like all of my Festool tools, I consider the Woodpecker tools to be "investment grade" tools.  Which means if I spend the money and take reasonable care of them, I will be able to use them for so many years to come.  In fact, I'll likely never need to replace them, and they are a joy to use during that time.

I'll start by saying that I have a home made MFT and use my table saw instead of the MFT with my TS75 for precision cross cutting.  However, it would seem to me that a framing square with 2 of these:

to provide you with the added height required to square up the track on the MFT might work for a fraction of the price.

I use one with my framing square to so the square is kept tight to a piece of wood when I do marking and it works great.

While possible you would spend an inordinate amount of time getting both sides perpendicular. I have one and use it frequently, but it does not deliver the preciseness of the WoodPecker (any other top grade square). The problem I see with using one or two of these is that you have to tighten thumb screws which like any other screw that depends on pressure to hold it in place the more you tighten the more likely it is to walk.

For the MFT user this is a nice product with a high price.

Agreed.

I ordered the 660mm Framing Square for $190.
They show that squaring up the MFT and it's a lot more useful as a large square.  It's a great marking tool.  IMO
Guarantee to be square to within .001 inch per foot or we’ll repair

I've never used the protractor/fence on my MFTs. Instead, I use a couple of Qwas dogs and the Woodpecker framing square to true up the rail.

The 1" thick sides of the MFT square gave me the idea of a 1281 sized square with 1" thick legs. That would be very useful.

One thing that I find hard to understand from WP is to offer in January the one-time large framing square, close the list, then offer the MFT squaring tool. Both being competing options to the exact same use, squaring an MFT.

It creates a pretty obvious opportunity for frustration among customers who would have chosen the other option if they had the choice.

If you want to buy the MFT Square instead of the Framing Square (if you already ordered the Framing Square) Woodpecker's will allow that. You can just call them or probably even do it online. While the two have overlapping functions, they are not really the same. While the Framing Square can perform the same squaring function, it has other capabilities for measuring and marking which you may or may not need. Unfortunately who can afford to buy both (or maybe even one)? Just call them, though. They will switch your order as long as it is before the MFT  Square order deadline.
