Hello Foggers,

Woodpeckers' latest One Time Tool is the perfect companion for your MFT table. Those of you who weren't able to get your hands on the large PCT Triangles will be especially interested in this offer.

The MFT Squares feature 1-1/8" thick legs to allow you to square the fence and guide rail for material 1" thick or less while the square lays flat on the table. The legs are 17" long, providing ample reference surfaces. These legs attach to 13-gauge stainless steel plate nearly 3/32" thick with a unique series of socket head screws and a stainless steel pin. This makes it possible to recalibrate your square were it ever to get knocked out of alignment

The MFT Square also features convenient, comfortable handles and an opening for hanging the square on the side of your MFT (even includes the stainless steel bracket to attach directly to your MFT).

As with all Woodpeckers One Time Tools, these are made to order and once the deadline is up, it's too late!

Deadline to order: February 16, 2015

Get yours today!

This looks like over kill. Does one really need this if you have the large framing square?

The large framing square doesn't catch the saw rail very well when you have it lowered over the support rail (the part where you put the stop).  You have to loosen the support rail, lower the saw rail, and then try to square with the support rail out of place.  Once you do that, then you have to raise the saw rail cut height and slide the cross cut rail back under the saw rail, and tighten it and hope it is square.

I think the carpenters or speed square has the same sort of problem.

In other words, using a different type of square to square the MFT is a pain in the keister.  At least that's been my experience.  And then you go through all that effort, make a cut, and its just slightly off.  Maybe not off enough to make a practical difference, but enough to be noticed when you put a square against it.

What really peeves me is that Woodpeckers has advertised all sorts of other One Time Tool squares to make squaring the MFT rails easier.  They haven't worked well, in my opinion.  This tool looks like it will do the job as it advertised for earlier tools.

Unfortunately, I have a bunch of other squares I bought based on those promises.

Since I do not own a Woodpecker's Framing Square nor any other Woodpecker's squaring type tool, which of the following would make the most sense for me given that I would use a tool like primarily for squaring up my guide rail to the fence on the MFT and for checking the squareness for assembly and possibly a couple of other tools.

12" X 18" Framing Square
16" X 26" Framing Square
MFT Square
Or another Woodpecker's triangle or square.

I already have some small engineer's squares so really just need something with longer sides and square. Maybe there are other really square things. I've had some success with cheap triangles but just interested in what others suggest.

I use the Woodpecker framing square for the MFT, Sawstop table saw, and router table. Works great. I use Qwas dogs on conjunction with the framing square and get extremely good results.

I like Woodpecker products and buy a lot of the one time tools. I really hesitate buying the MFT square since I have the framing square.

Perhaps, I can justify it.

Do you think the MFT Square would work better, the same, or not as well as the framing square for the squaring functions? How do you use it on the Sawstop (cabinet saw model?)?

Of the 'square' options,  I think the MFT square would work the best for squaring the MFT. But I think the  16" x 26" has more all purpose usability.

I suppose I agree, but I have been trying to figure out what I would use it for besides that. Plus, the MFT Square is cooler looking (but admittedly high priced and less useful). I certainly don't think I'll hang it on the side of my MFT if I do buy it. That seems like and accident waiting to happen.

I have never used the MFT fence/protractor that came with my MFT. My MFT cuts have all been 90 degree cuts using the track saw guide rail and the TS55. I true the track saw guide rail using Qwas dogs and the Woodpecker framing square. I think the MFT square would work somewhat better for this task than the framing square.

I true up miter guides on my Sawstop (Industrial) using the Woodpecker framing square by setting one edge against the saw blade (unplugged saw) and the other side against the miter guide. I think the MFT square would work somewhat better for this task than the framing square.

I use the framing square as a true square for a number of applications for which the MFT square wouldn't work very well.

I'd like to have both, but the framing square would be my first choice due to a wider range of uses.

Hey Foggers,

Just a quick reminder that the deadline to order is in less than one week! There is some reservation with Woodpeckers MFT square (which is completely understandable, given it's price!). I think most everyone has a previous model square from Woodpeckers they use to square their MFT (I know we do), but this is the first designed specifically for that use. That being said, it's simply the best tool for it.

You guys have probably seen the videos below, but if not it can't hurt to watch.  [wink]

(The MFT Square comes in at about six minutes on the latter)
