Conventional framing squares may be OK for construction jobs where “square” means in the neighborhood of 90°. That’s what you can expect from a square that’s punched out by the thousands or molded out of plastic. As most woodworkers know, framing squares simply can’t be trusted in tight tolerance shop work and can be difficult to use.
