Woodpeckers Rule Delay

I always read the thread title as "Woodpeckers Rue the Day".
Which seems fairly accurate.

Has anyone received any of the set up blocks. The original delivery month was March. Still waiting for the Systainer foam insert. [blink]

I missed the order cutoff, and glad I did, because I ordered the new Lee Valley set two days ago. Just as accurate and a lot less expensive....and already shipped! [big grin]

Cheers,
Frank

Frank, same here for the Lee Valley set up blocks.

I also missed out on the WP OTT bar gauges a while back, and noticed this week LV sells a similar Veritas Bar Gauge set, for way less money....  Got that heading my way too.

Just got the same thing here.  I'm not holding my breath, though.  (I look TERRIBLE in blue...)

Got the same email only it was for the squares.  Not please at all.  End of JULY !!!!!  when they start shipping the end of May?  This is the first one time tool I've ordered and might very well be the last one I order from them.  I love the tools I've gotten from them but this is poor service.

I got that update email as well. I'd like to get a head count on folks waiting for the OTT framing squares. I'm very surprised they state they are starting to ship end of May and promise shipment before the end of July. I clicked on paying PayPal for security reasons, and was not warned by anything on WP or PP website that the promise to not charge the credit card would be forfeited. I operate a business and I can promise you, those folks whose money I already have would be the first to get shipped. I understand they have invested heavily etc, welcome to the business world. I'll buy Woodpecker again, but only if I can walk into a store, put it in my cart and pay for it and take it home. This is unacceptably ridiculous customer service(?).

Until this morning, I could have been on your head count as "waiting" for the framing squares, however I see they have just charged my credit card, so mine should be here soon. (Ordered Jan 19, due to me June 17)

Did you pay with Paypal, or with a credit card (Paypal credit card or otherwise)? They are two very different things.

I operate a business as well and take both forms of payment, to my customers Paypal is always an immediate charge - even for pre order (future release) items, and we state this clearly online. Credit cards are not charged until the item is shipped.

Seems to me Woodpecker operates this way as well, at least for me in this case.

Interestingly, I pre ordered the Woodpecker guide rail OTT from Tool Nut with a credit card, they charged me at the end of May. So I guess different companies do things differently--- (No s/h from Tool Nut, thats nice!)

I'm waiting for both items yet. The ruler and the square. Shouldn't they finish one OTT item before starting another one? It's been 6 months now on the ruler. My house was built in 3. Just speechless.

Received an email yesterday that mine finally had shipped (6/24).

I should have it by the weekend.

6 months and counting!  I'm fairly certain I'll never order another OTT again.  This is the first and last time.  I seriously doubt I'll ever order directly from Woodpeckers again.  Love their products but the service is horrible.  I'll stick to buying in stock Woodpeckers tools from other places for less money or buy non-woodpeckers tools.

I am very patiently waiting for my square to arrive.  I have a growing collection of woodpeckers tools (just like my growing collection of systainers.......coincidence??) and I see no reason for that to stop.  By this point most everyone should know that woodpeckers has very high demand verse their production speed.  Many people, myself included, are willing to wait in order to buy an extremely high quality American made product.  In fact, I have already ordered another OTT, even after having an extended waiting period for my large square.

Honestly, I dont quite understand the problem.  There are MANY upper end products that require a wait time.  If you order a truley upper end custom car, would you not expect to wait months to take delivery?  yes, i realize there is much more to making a custom car then a 18" square, but many of the same rules apply.  it is all about production speed vs demand.  Woodpeckers has created demand outside of what they have the ability to produce in what some perceive as a timely manner.  I dont see this as a problem.  I see this as validation that others confirm what I believe:  that woodpeckers products are worth the wait.

for those that dont see it the same way, there are other options out there for good measuring and marking tools.

I'm with you, slopjock.  I'm becoming as addicted to Woodpeckers as I am to Festool and am willing to wait.  Of course I would rather have it right away but waiting is better than nothing.
I am now waiting for their parallel guides.  I already have the Festool ones and the ones called Rip Dogs or something like that.  I need to see a shrink.

I am an executive in an organization that puts customer service at a high level. The key is maintaining communication so internal and external customers are not surprised at the last minute.  There IS an order status page on woodpecker's website. That said the status box for the mft square (which I ordered) due to be shipped in June had nothing listed for status last time I checked..........

I just got the e-mail that my ruler ordered back in December through Woodcraft (20% off coupon worked) just shipped!

Eric, I was trolling The FOG (Like Rick Christopherson does when he wants to tell people what they are doing wrong) and I saw this old post and I have to comment Eric. Come on man give them another chance. Fall in love again. I'll send you some box clamps so you can get that happy feeling aga [poke]in. This post is so old, and that new shop needs filling. buy yourself a woodpeckers Odd Job and feel good about them again! [poke] [dead horse]
Well maybe not an Odd Job but you have to admit their squares are real nice! [big grin]

That's the beauty of being a Woodpeckers subscriber...any day can turn out to be Christmas...how sweet is that?

Christmas in July...who doesn't like that?

Mix it up...that's what makes life interesting.

FWIW...this may be of interest to some.

I got that video also. Based on that, it would seem as if they are, more or less, on track with a February delivery of the Odd Job.

WP seemed to listen & react to the feedback on the FOG about them missing target dates and keeping folks informed as to status of OTT orders. I think the videos are a great idea, not only lets everyone know where things stand but also serves as subtle marketing.

Kudos to Rich @ WP.

I think that's a great idea on WoodPeckers part. Keeping people up to date on their purchases and even showing what goes into the design and machining of all their tools.
Good job WP!
