Menno,

I would be happy if I could ship worldwide, but due to difficulty of access to certain things here in Metric, it would be difficult and very costly to do a metric version. I am not sure what the pegboard layout is in Europe, maybe 100mm on center with 5 or 6mm holes? Not sure. First I would have to get my hands on a sample piece of what is readily available over there, then try to find the steel pins in metric that I use. The standard ones I use, took me a couple of weeks to find and I have only found one supplier and it takes me a couple of weeks to get them. So finding a metric version I would probably have to have them shipped to me from Europe. I did find something in a 6mm diameter pin, but they where about 5 times the cost due to shipping. If I figure out a way to do it, I would be happy to release a metric version.

Thank you,
Anthony

Not sure if this was covered in another thread, but realistically the only losses of not having the holes on a 4" as opposed to 96mm grid are?
- placing kapex (feet are on 96mm grid)....
- anything else?

Thanks!

Nothing I can think of other than your mounting holes may have to be adjusted.

live4ever,

The only thing that is giving me pause is the Precision Plate for adding the Incra LS positioner.  I haven't gotten one yet but it looks very attractive for use on my 80/20 tables and I would hate to give up the option.

In possibly a related question, does anyone know of a US source of metric pegboard that could be used to develop the template?  I came close when I found Rev-A-Shelf pegboard for use in cabinet organizers but it appears to be 64 mm on center.  It would probable be in some industrial application that I have never heard of.

It would be possible to make a template for drilling an extra hole in your MFT specifically for the Precision Plate. it could be 3 holes in length and the last hole for mounting the Precision Plate would be 288mm from the first. the other 2 would be 4" oc to drop in dogs for alignment while boring the third hole. If there is a demand for this, I can work on a template specifically for the Precision Plate. The place to drill your Precision Plate hole would have to be pre-thought out as the third hole will slightly overlap the standard holes. To you would be better to skip that one spot when drilling your original top. Keep me posted for interests in this type of template.

Thanks,
Anthony

Anthony,
what type of pegboard was that that you included with the jig? It is far better than anything I'm able to find locally. The big box stores only carry 3/16" and the stuff at my local lumber yard is somewhat "flakey" for lack of a better term.

BTW the jig works great!!!

Glad to hear. I get it at either my local hardwood/Sheet good supplier, or Lowes. The stuff I send with the units was all purchased at Lowes. Sometimes they have the 1/4", but a lot of the time it's the 3/16". Both should work fine. You can call your local sheet good supplies, They will usually have the higher grade stuff.

The LS positioner can accept T-nut mounted dogs on its standard base so you can adjust the spacing to suit 4".

Tony excellent work on this. Did I miss a comment? When I first looked at your setup I immediately saw that your jig could double as a "Poor Mans" Shelf pin system. The pegboard here has1 inch spacing but if someone just wants shelf pin holes they could use your jig and a 1/4 bit and bore every hole for a nice shelf pin setup. I feel confident that I am not the first guy to see this but I did not see it in any of the posts. It would take very little work to add some parts to the peg board to make hole alignment easy and consistent.

Keep up the good work. I am not in need of a new MFT top now but when I do need one I will be getting one from you

Thanks Uncle Joe! Yes this could be used like that, Great point. May need to work on a video for that. It could be used to layout a variety of patterns as long as it's 1" on center.

Forgive me if you have already answered this, but can it be adapted for my 1010? I know that it's made for the 1400.

Thanks for your time!

Thanks for your time!

The OF1400 has two open screw holes on the bottom plate for mounting. I don't think there are any on the OF1010. But you may be able to attach it to a bushing ring like a 30mm. That would be the only thing I can think of. I don't own a 1010, But I will look into what I can find.

If you can attach the bushing rings like I have in the image, You can screw through the bushing. Just let me know you are ordering for a 1010, so I can send the correct plate. I just reprogrammed the the CNC and the first run of the plates can't accept the 30mm Bushing.

Just got it all set up and started. Going to stop for the evening but this took me about 20-30 minutes. I'm using a bosch 1617 with the bosch 20mm hinge bit. The router is at 3 for speed and I take 4-5 passes with each hole to prevent the bit from heating up. Works really great and very easy. Certainly easier than the plywood jig I was going to make to accomplish this using an oversized router template. Preliminary measuring makes it look like this system will be pretty accurate.

I am planning to get the parf dogs and hopefully the holes wont be too big. I know the parf dogs are 19.1 mm......

Thanks for sharing! A couple things I found. The Peg board cuts harder than the MDF. I pre-cut the holes in Pegboard and laid out the initial pattern. So cutting The MDF was much easier. Also, if you get the parf dogs, Which mine have no play in the holes, you can use the two row pattern you already cut (in the pegboard), and shift it one set of holes over using the parf dogs to lock the pegboard in the last set of holes you created. (If that makes any sense) Then cut the next row and move down. This way your template does not have to be the full size of the table, just two Cut rows of 20mm holes. Just another option.

Yeah, the shifting with the parf dogs occurred to me just as I was finishing. Unfortunately I had to buy a whole sheet of pegboard as it is all my local box store had, and there is not a good lumber yard very close to me. I may wait for them to arrive and then cut off the section I have just finished and proceed with that method.
