Working on a new Coaster shape

This is simply a piece of 3/4" MDF, purely as a sample. I was shooting for the "Rock glass" squarish shape.
The one I have easy access to, fits it.... but probably "too well". You have to be very exacting in the way you set it down or it will miss. Maybe deeper in the pocket too.

There was no profile done to any of the edges, a bevel on the inside might help, as well as just making it slightly larger over-all. I'm thinking I should duplicate the shape of the pocket onto the bottom, as a foot. Then they can nest together.

Thoughts/opinions?

Nesting is always cool.

I like the curved sides. If nested/stacked I’d keep the edges pretty crisp, just a little relief with fine abrasive.

There is a profile on the inside right? A bowl bit with round corners?

Yes. I cut the pocket with the Woodpeckers Ultra-Shear 16mm 3 flute, then followed with an older Freud 7/16" with a 1/8" radius.  I could have gotten the radius in the Woodpeckers bit, but I'm not sure that form was available, at the time? I got that bit very early-on, trying to encourage them to stick with the 8mm shanks. They have expanded a lot since then.
I was planning to do some kind of edge profile, on the actual final product. This was just a test after drawing it up in Studio, at home.
I have a couple of thinner slices of the chaos cutting board, glued up for this, as soon as I settle on the pattern.

Oh, BTW I got that oiled and waxed today, feet on too.

I really like the look of this, but if it were me using it, I would probably put my square-bottom glass approximately diagonal across the ledge so I wouldn't have to be too careful with the placement. Or, maybe I'd use it upside-down?

Nice shape.  What size glass / mug would fit in the pocket?
How about keeping the basic shape but making a "juice groove" around the edge - a bit like a very small cutting board?  You would have a flat surface for any size of glass / mug to sit on.

[member=76043]bobtskutter[/member]  The shape was somewhat inspired by the whisky glasses (with the company logo) that one of the bosses bought last Christmas. They are considered a "Rock" glass.
It's not an exact fit, in fact the glasses are more square. I wanted them to work, but not be exclusive to those glasses. Plus, I did it as a guess, from home.
I like the depression in the top, since it can be made to fit the reverse shape on the bottom. That way they register with each other in a stack.
