Workshop Security

I have a German Shepherd that is quite watchful and responsive, but the real danger comes from the other dog.  You know, the kind that barks over here and bites over there...

Why am I getting the impression, at least today in this thread,  that 1 in 3 NA FOG members have German Tools and German Dogs?  [big grin]

Gee, I dunno. I don't speak German...

but my dogs are named:

Schnee Kaiserin (Snow Empress)
Karodame (Queen of Diamonds)
and
Bescha (Defender)

I figured if they're German, they needed German names?!

Dogs are the best security for a shop a total weight of 200 pounds is close to 100% guaranty that nobody will mess with your tools.

Second best Dropcam, you set them up to alert you to movement or sound and you have a recording of what happen.

Get Big steel tool boxes and bolt them into concrete footings or large pads with the bolt heads inside the boxes.. Make sure the big padlocks only have their keyholes and bases exposed.

I would use 2 alarm systems one wired and one battery or battery backed up system.

I would replace the fog with CS or tear gas and auto locking doors. The robbers cannot see and will be very short of breath at best. Local law enforcement might not appreciate it.

A 10 gauge shotgun with rock salt loads will make an impression.

I won't be popping over late to borrow cup of sugar!!

Well I guess my Australian Shepard has gotten to friendly apparently she didn't do any thing when they were carting out my stuff. I use to have a Chow Chow best dog I ever had when something was out of place or not normal he was all over it. So didn't really worry to much about stuff because when people saw him in the yard they just keep moving. Guess I need to borrow my step sons Rottweiler don't think they would get to far with him attached to their leg.

If it's a high risk area, I'd move the more expensive easy to carry things into the house, bolt the stationary tools to the floor with self made hardware that needs custom tools to remove, I'd get the mist/fog solution, and loud battery driven alarms. If I lived in the countryside I think a big dog or two would both be a rewarding companion and a good deterrent...

I'd like to use poisonous gas on anyone that tried to pinch my stuff - not harmless fog! [mad]

Probably some silly law against that [embarassed] [sad]

You could try to source some old style Halon -fire extinguishing systems and rig them to a motion detection system and automatic exit locking system... Should remove oxygen from the space in seconds and after that...

That should do the trick and you can always claim that the installation was botched up by mistake  [tongue]

If I lived down under, I'm pretty sure I'd have at least one attack Koala around.

Nah, a male big red Kangaroo would have them disembowelled in seconds in such a confined space. Problem is it would not be choosy.  [big grin]

I don't know. After reading about "Drop Bears", it sounds like they're no bargain either.  [eek]

Long term, vote out all politicians who won't allow us to protect our loved ones, homes and possessions
by whatever means we consider appropriate. The law is an ass and very much weighed in the favour of the criminals,
what a mess!
