I am thinking about having this splinterguard injection molded.  It allows engagement with the saw plunged for 1/2" material.  Check out the 3D PDF that is attached and give me your thoughts please.

What is the advantage of a longer guard? The whole purpose IMO is that the edge of the blade is supported on the cut area of the wood and the regular guard does that.

For the offcutside splinterguard to be usefull, the teeth of the sawblade have to pass through it; with the ts75 you have to plunge deeper than with the ts55 for the teeth to reach it, so the standard splinter guards are useless with certain thicknesses of material.
(Or you have to cut very deep into your cutting table)
I think Paul Marcell adressed this aswell in one of his videos. (I don't have a ts75 so I only vagely remember the video, but I believe he also came up with something that worked)

Thanks Garry for putting a picture.
The regular guard is only engaged if you are plunged full depth.  With this you can plunge to as shallow of a depth to cut 1/2" material but the blade is still engaged into the guard.

Great idea to get it put together. I would be in but my 75 is mostly permanent in my CMS so no need. You have a price range in mind?

Cheers. Bryan.

Not yet. I just wanted to see how many people would be interested before I got a quote.

I might be interested.  I bought a bunch of the Festool parts and modified them using Paul's design so it isn't a must have item for me.  However, if they were reasonably priced I could be interested.

One other thing.  The Festool part isn't just a piece of plastic.  It also includes a metal piece.  How is your design going to address that?

Thanks.

im sure I can get that made. I have a couple of friends who own machine shops.

I too have made the Paul Marcel splinterguard for my TS75, and I definitely would be interested in yours, so long as it is affordable - I know that is a very relative term, so let's say no more than twice what the current one from Festool costs.

Just noticed your avatar.  Is that a Dogue de Bordeaux?  We raise a related breed - Boerboels.
