The 1400 can handle pretty big bits so you can make a ton of chips, I'd say the D36 is worth while for it as well.

Brice,

I have found that more often than not, my of 1400 clogs right at the router regardless of the hose size I am using. am I doing something wrong?

No, you're not doing anything wrong, that's the choke point. I think the D36 helps some, well, that's my opinion anyway.

I need attachments for it and wondered which kit is a better deal. I am looking at the compact kit for $75 (i think), because I dont see the need for the extra hose. Any suggestions for this?

I have the compact kit and after using it for a small year I'm a little bit disappointed by it when it comes to cleaning.

1 - The plastic tubes aren't that strong. When you want to give the floor a good rubbing they just don't hold up, they bend all the time or disconnect sometimes. Very annoying.
2 - The 27 mm hose is just too thin for good cleaning. With bigger chips, the hose constantly clogs at the start of the nozzle. It is really worth getting the 36mm hose to avoid this.
3 - The green hose might be anti-static, but the plastic tubes somehow are not. It is incredible how much dust sticks to the outer part of the tubes when you give carpet a good rub. It literally gets a coating of dust on the outside. I have never seen this happen with any home or shop vac before. I have to clean them on the outside very often.
4 - The included assortment of floor nozzles is a bit too select for my taste. For serious cleaning you'll want a couple of extra pieces, which leads to 5)
5 - It is always a puzzle to get all the parts in the systainer after you're finished. It is possible of course, and to be honest I even get two extra parts in there when you arrange them in the right way, but it remains a hassle. A bigger systainer for the kit is no luxury.

So for me, a kit with a 36mm hose and the metal tubes is high on my list. And I'd get an anti-static hose instead of the normal one. If you want to use the 36mm hose later on with other (perhaps later purchased) tools, anti-static comes in real handy.

I have to agree with Alex on this, have all the same hassles. But it does get the job done, in the end. Just a little more patience is required. I decided to get it anyway for the same reason Tom mentioned. If one of my staff dropped a metal tube on a finished floor, I would not be happy.

The tradesman cleaning set is  the one to go for.  36mm hose & metal pipes are ace.  In my opinion the 36mm hose is a must for the Kapex, the Hl850 planer & on certain applications, the Of 1400.  You can never have to many hoses  [wink]

I just picked up a CT22 on Friday and it is an amazing extractor!  I only wish I would have bought it when I got my TS75 last year to take advantage of the extra savings....live and learn!  In terms of accessories to go along with my new CT22, I opted for the Workshop Cleaning set, instead of the Tradesperson/Installer cleaning set.  I figured that I could not justify spending $123.00 for an indstrial floor nozzle by itself, but coupled with the bigger hose and Systainer it made more sense.  The industrial floor nozzle seemed quite a bit more rugged than the multi-purpose floor nozzle included in the Tradesperson/Installer kit and since I have concrete floors in my shop I wanted something with rollers that would stand up to this use.  The plastic brushes and crevice tool are low cost items that I can always add to the kit later and the Systainer has the same insert as the Tradesperson/Installer set so there are three sections in the bottom where these additional tools could go.  I gave the floor nozzle a good workout this weekend -- it is amazing and worked very well and picking up all the chips and debris on the floor after routing and a day in the shop.  I think I can safely put away the broom and keep the dust from going into the air by using the floor nozzle.  It did an admirable job on the shop carpets too and I think that I will no longer need to lug the regular vacuum cleaner out to my shop.  I have no doubt that the workshop cleaning set and new CT22 are going to make clean-up faster, easier and smarter for me.
