The Festool level was indeed a Stabila level that was a modified Type 196 frame. The most notable mod's that I remember were the continuous frame across the vial on the long edge and the graduations that started in the center for centering things. It's been a long time since I had any so there may have been something else but I don't recall...

The latest and greatest Stabila spirit levels are the R-Beams. They have 3 continuous edges that are good for marking, etc., and are more than twice as strong as the Type 196 frames (120% stronger). The 196 frames were already really strong. They also have a very ergonomic grip, can be used as a screed, and are easy to clean.

When they first came out, I thought the R-Beam was a bit of overkill. Now that I've used one for a while, I like it. I'm getting the same sort of feedback from customers also.

Shortly after I first saw the Festool levels, Stabila came out with the Measuring Sticks. They used the Festool enhancements on a smaller frame, the Type 80A-2 frame.

I have a lot more images but those coffee cups survived. I have cups I can't show you or I might have to call "the cleaner"... Was that something about incontinence? Maybe I meant I spilled the peanuts... I think I dropped my "Elvis"...

'Second from the right sent me to 'second from the left for a few weeks in '97. We were doing the F1 engine at the time. My job was to get us spread throughout the F1 car and then get the commercial cars away from IBM (Catia).

It worked and just in time for their 50th anniversary party. They had 50 years of "normal" Ferraris at the test track and several years of F1 cars in the courtyard of the office facility. VERY cool!

They invited anyone in the world that owned a Ferrari. There were so many all over the place that I actually passed one on the Autostrada in my rented Punto. Of course, he had a gorgeous woman in the seat next to him and two more sitting on the "boot" behind him, while I was all alone...

Is it May yet?

I ordered the Seneca Domiplate.  It arrived yesterday.

I was pleasantly surprised to see it had a front knob and capture screws.
When I saw this accessory in Paul's Half Inch Shy review they weren't included.
The quality is great.  Well worth the $65

Yet to arrive is the RTC SCG.  That look awesome in Paul's review.
