WOW is back … in the hospital.

A little background may be in order...

Last week I had an EXTREMELY upsetting experience with Festool. The company, not the tools. It got to me - a LOT - so rather than make a public scene or act unprofessionally, I chose to give myself a 'time-out’ to cool off. Hence my going dark for several days. With this post I am ending my self-imposed exile.

Now, about the second part:

My health isn’t the best, as may be evident in some of my posts. High levels of stress are particularly bad for me, and I try to avoid them. Most of the time I am successful, but during the same period that I ‘went dark’ some other events kind of piled on and pushed me over my limit. So - as I type this - I am sitting up in a bed in the Heart Hospital. Hey, at least they've got free WiFi!

One of the things I SO enjoy about the FOG is the ability to connect vicariously through the many amazing projects and lively exchanges that take place. I find the projects to be clever, educational, and inspiring. I find the exchanges to be engaging, entertaining, and - for me - therapeutic. Since I will have a LOT of time over the next however-many days where I can’t do much OTHER than read and respond, I guess you're going to have to put up with me again…

Well, Wayne, got to tell you that "Sparky" is NOT Sparktrician.  Not to confuse you in your obviously debilitated state with mere facts...  [poke]

In any case, I'll be glad to send a positive three-phase, 480 volt thunderbolt your way with good wishes for a speedy recovery.

My 90 year old mother has been in A-fib for the last three months.  She has had four trips to the ER during that time.  The doctors had her on meds for several weeks and then did a cardioversion.  The cardioversion got her heart back in normal rhythm, but it went right back into A-fib after a few days. 

Have your doctors said anything about a pacemaker?  My mother's doctors do not seem to think a pacemaker is the right way to go for her.

Last I checked I'm not 90 years old - but several days last week I felt like I was!!!

I have been cardio-verted before, but that time there was documented evidence of the cause - which involved a lead that moved on my ICD. This time they haven't identified (to their satisfaction) the exact cause, and are therefore worried that I might just fail right back. And of course this happened on the weekend, so - unless I code [scared] - they aren't gonna call in the big guns.

All that means that it will likely be a whole bunch of tests tomorrow, and then a consult to plan their strategy.
