WOW Passed Away?

Oh man, this is awful news. I PM'd him just a few months ago. Great guy with friends all over the globe. Sad sad day.

This is tragic news indeed. You never know where lightning strikes but this is too close to home.

I think it's time to be a little introspective and be thank full for what we have, because every day can and will present a new obstacle into what we take for granted...life.

RIP Wow

This is indeed tragic and sad news.  Most of us knew he had some medical issues, but this still comes as a shock, I was hoping he had made a turn for the better....

His family has lost a husband and father, and the FOG has lost a special member, one that went out of his way to help anyone he could.  He will be missed!!!

Rest in Peace Wayne...

I followed his posts with interest and PM'd with him a few times.

I was always impressed he made such an effort to be helpful to so many people.

A very talented guy and as nice as they come.

He will be missed.

My prayers go out to his family.

It is always hard to understand why someone as helpful and considerate as Wayne should leave us so early.

He will be missed by everyone I am sure.

I can't really comment , nothing more to say then already has.

It's a sad day for us all....

Wayne helped me out last year, by buying and sending me some not-available-in-Australia 'Snappy' bits, that fit the Centrotec chucks. He was so helpful, I was a bit taken back.
I won't be able to repay the favour.
Condolences to his family, Wayne will certainly be missed.

Devastated. I never met Wayne but messaged and spoke to him on numerous occasions. A truly great guy, and will be sorely missed.

I am very sad to hear this. I have never seen a person who became so thoroughly rooted inside the FOG community in such a short time, and it was because he was a great person who made great effort to help others and participate here. He will be missed. My sympathies to his family who will miss him even more.

I just looked at his profile and his signature reads, "trying to be one of the most helpful members on the FOG"  I'm a new member and maybe this isn't in keeping with the forum, but  maybe as a small/silly sort of tribute, an admin/mod could give him a title under his avatar or change his signature with words along the lines of "succeeded in being one of the most helpful members on the FOG"?

Seconded, I think that would be very appropriate.

WOW inspired me to do better than I thought I could.  His knowledge and humor will be missed.  He and his family are in my prayers.

For once, I am at a loss for words beyond what has already been said.  RIP wow.  We will all miss you. As you wished, you were the most helpful member.

That is really sad news.
When WOW wasn't trying to be the most helpful person on the FOG, he was always being one of the most amusing people on the FOG. Wayne really had away with words.
Like a lot of people here, I'm really going to miss reading WOW's posts and Interacting with him.

This is devastating news! [sad]

Wayne and I have had many conversations off FOG. We share a similar background and have had long discussions of our earlier endeavors, especially regarding the Apple and computer worlds. We also traded favors, me sending him NAINA stuff, and he sending me products unavailable where I was at the time.

I suspected something was not right after writing him about the loss of his best friend (his dog) recently....and didn't get a reply as would be normal between us. At the least, I have a momento to remember him by through his well designed First Aid Systainer Kit.

I would like to suggest that someone who lives near his house in Minnesota reach out to his wife and make sure she doesn't get ripped off should she have to sell off his workshop equipment and tools. Additionally, she NEEDS to know that the Apple 2 computer he has is worth a great deal of money...and should only be sold through an appropriate auction if need be.

Rest in Peace Wayne. I'll miss you and our conversations. Thanks for your encouragement and advice. FOG won't quite be the same without you.

Frank, You are giving some very important and helpful advice.  In case there is nobody close by, or who has any info about his home address, I am wondering if, with all of your personal correspondances with Wayne, you might have his personal E-mail address.  If so, it would be possible for you to contact his wife personally by sending an E-mail to his address telling her of your concerns. She will probably get the message and appreciate. I am sure she is in need of some advice in this time from someone who really cares. You might not be able to put an exact $$$ value to anything, but you have an idea of value range.  I know from FOG entries that the two were very close and did work together (the First Aid sustainers and the Christmas Carol project are two that pop into mind immediately) very closely.  I am sure that Wayne did keep good records (the nature of the man); but no matter how close tabs, there is always something of value that escapes the closest scrutiny.

This is terrible news.  Truly a dedicated and kind man.  He'll be missed.  The few conversations I had with him were always something a bit more special.
