I'm wondering if someone closer to him can confirm, but I ran across an obituary for Wayne Wenzlaff (aka WOW on the FOG) today on Minneapolis Star Tribune.  It shows him passing away April 29th.

I hope I am wrong too- great member of the FOG and maker of the best first aid kit in a Systainer.  However, in previous conversations with him, he had mentioned he grew up in South Dakota and the obituary stated that as well, so not looking good.

Imagine logging in and seeing this if it is not true [scared] [eek]

Wow, whatever happened i am sure you are in a better place.... God bless you and your family.....

Based on Shanes Link it appears that this is true....What a sad lost for the FOG Brethren  Rest in Peace Wayne for you will be missed [sad]

All the pieces do seem to add up. Sad news. But when a forum/online community grows, unfortunately it's a law of averages thing that this will happen from time to time.

I just looked at his profile and his signature reads, "trying to be one of the most helpful members on the FOG"  I'm a new member and maybe this isn't in keeping with the forum, but  maybe as a small/silly sort of tribute, an admin/mod could give him a title under his avatar or change his signature with words along the lines of "succeeded in being one of the most helpful members on the FOG"?

Check this out...Voice sound familiar? (Wayne's power systainer video)  Notice the white German Shepherd in the bottom of the frame.
Wayne Wenzlaff MECC Story - Welcome to Macintosh Extras

"Nostalgia came to mind when watching a television show a couple weeks back called “Welcome to Macintosh” on Apple history.  The reflective kind, to be precise.  One enlightening part of the documentary was how the director happened across an old Apple II computer — on the internet up for bid. It wasn’t just any Apple II, but the fifth unit (S/N #5) to roll off the manufacturing line in the late 1970s.
This led the director of the film to the Twin Cities and to Wayne Wenzlaff.  Wenzlaff has long been credited with giving the still-emerging Apple its first big break. As the film puts it, “It all started in Minnesota.”  The documentary recapped how Wenzlaff picked up the film director at the Twin Cities airport and whisked him off to his Apple-related treasure trove, which included the Apple II.  Complete with an Apple-imprinted leather case from 1977 and given to Wenzlaff by none other than Mike Markkula, Apple’s original investor.  It turns out that Wenzlaff was a buyer for the since shuttered Minnesota-based Team Electronics chain of stores.  Team Electronics went on to become Apple’s first big foothold in the consumer-retail market. In addition, Wenzlaff helped Apple win its first big education-market deal, in Minnesota."

Man... I had a big lump in my throat when I saw this title and didn't want to believe it. Wayne... You will be missed by young and old on this forum. You came in like thunder and rode off into the sunset a better person, and we are all thankful for it.

May peace be with you and your family and now every time I look at my first aid kit... I will smile a little bit more knowing you and your wife made it by hand.

We will miss you my brother.

Cheers. Bryan.

Thank you Wayne, for your insight and kind words. You touched many people and you will be sorely missed.

Truly sad news.  Wayne was successful in being a helpful and dedicated member here.  Always willing to give his time to others.  Thoughts and prayers for his family.
