I am wanting to purchase some Festool equipment. I want to know where I could find discounted tools? Are there ever any sales on Festool equipment? I'm wanting to get a track saw, sander, and dust collector, possibly a router.

Can this stuff be purchase for a discount greater than those offered on combinations such as Dust Collector with tool? I'm a full time grad student with limited funds and want to get the best deal I can.  Thanks in advance for any advice. I

Thanks

The simple answer is no, all dealers are required to sell at price determined by Festool. The extractor savings are the only discounts.  Every now and then, there is a reconditioned tool sale, but is not at a set in stone time.

As already mentioned generally speaking there is no discounting.  On occasion Festool will have a sale on reconditioned tools or promotional sales of specific items.  These sales are not on any regular time frame so you never know when the next one is coming.  Promotional sales might be once a year and the discounts are usually round 10%.  Reconditioned tool sales are more irregular, maybe every couple of years.  The discounts are varied depending on the condition of the tool but are between 10-30% with only a one year warranty.  The tools are sold at a first come first served basis, and the best deals tend to go fast.  Your only other option is the used market.  Good luck and welcome to the FOG.

Your local Craigslist and Amazon used sales are your only hope, in addition to the FOG Classified section already mentioned.

Or I suppose you can open up a Festool dealership.  Are you going to school for business?  :)

If you want to save money, go to craigslist and eBay. They can be used but still very good. I have a lot of used Festools, and over the last 8 years, only one, very old saw has crapped out on me.

I just (this morning, actually) got a Domino through a member on another woodworking forum. The tool and a bunch of tenons (and the systainer) I ended up saving around $450, and it still smells new. Just be warned, Festools hold their value better than any other tool I've seen, so any screamin' deals are snapped up quick. I peruse the Seattle Craigslist for Festools and they pop up regularly. But, as I said, the great deals aren't there for long.

"WTB Festool at a discount" -- yeah, wouldn't we all?!?
Does anyone know if Festool will instill a policy (you know, like Walmart), where they will accept competitor's coupons?
Check out what it says at the bottom right.
Just messing with you dude!  Welcome to the FOG!
(I may be drawn and quartered for supplying the forum's 'joke of the day')

$129.99 for a 12" 15A SCMS??  ???  [big grin]

My Kapex has a lot of tricks, but that Chicago Electric with a shop vac has worked great for my framing lumber cuts the past 7 years.

Only in America would they make t sound like you're getting a good deal because a blade is included! Who buys a saw without a blade?!

I've heard this as well. For a no frills saw, the price is certainly right. They do supposedly need a ton of adjustment out of the box, but is rather functional once dialed in.

You probably don't want that blade though. :)

No, electrical engineering :(

Barrier to entry is extremely high on this stuff :(

Please add my name to the list of people eligible to buy Festool at a discount.

k thx bye.

Where are you doing Grad school?
There may be a shop at the school??

Depending on what you are doing, it is possible that a bench and hand tools might be just as useful as power tools. Or maybe not - all depending on what you are intending to be doing.

well If want to buy at a discount,  wait for Festool to come out with a new model. When they came out with the TS 55 REB the EQ models were all on sale here, same when the cave came out the PS300s were all up for sale etc..

Just takes a little patience
