If this is the wrong forum, please move it.

Thanks.

Well, I must first thank all the forum members and lukers that contributed suggestions to my Christmas gifts from "Santa" list.  I presented the list to Ms. Claus and she suggested that I look to see if anyone happens to be selling any of the items on that list.

So, allow me to ask...  Are there are any forum members that have any of of the following Festools that they no longer need?  It was, or they were, used for that "one" project and now sit quietly in the corner, weeping, nay, sobbing, for additional Festoolian companionship, I would like to offer my "take it off your hand" services...  ::)

ETS/3
95" guide rail for the LR32-Sys
Table mounted router
Centrotec collection/systainer
MFS

Thanks.

I have found that the used Festools go for so much it really is not a better deal when you consider you get a brand new tool with a warranty for maybe 30.00 more.  To me if you can not save 100.00 or more it's not worth losing the warranty and not knowing what the tool went through before you got a hold of it.

I have seen the old model rotex for example go for 35.00 less than a brand new, new model. It make no sense for the buyer, great for the seller.

You have pretty much replayed my reply to Ms. Claus.  However, since Ms. Claus is footing the bill, I am obliged to do as she asks.

To illustrate...  I found a used MFS700 which I am interested in.  However, the used price is, like you suggested, only 30.00 less than new.  Plus, there's shipping.  Say, 20.00 and the "discount" for used winds up being only 10.00.  :-\

While I have your attention.

Do you really like the ETS/3 as much as you indicated in your reply to my Christmas Wish List posting?  I take it you use it when making your inlays?

Also...

Ms. Claus has not "decided", one way or the other, regarding the 1080/Inlay suggestion you made the other evening.

Not a problem on the inlay, take your time it's something you have to live with everyday.

If the inlay is going in a finished or pre-finished flooring I absolutely use the 150/3. Its the best finish sander I have used.
That being said it is not the most expensive of the line up and I would get the RO first. You can get the 150/3 down the line if you determine you need it.

If the inlay is going in a  floor that is getting sanded I just use the RO to 100 grit. It makes no sense for me to sand to much when they are going to blast a drum sander right over the inlay at install time.

If you need a router table for 299.00 including cabinet, pivoting fence, router top and router plate is a fantastic deal. I may just buy another because I can not pass it up. Free shipping no tax to boot!

When I paid 850.00 way back I was happy. The is the only review that makes sense and is the first one and he is a major contributor on the router.com forum.

I love the pivoting fence and have to have that. Forget about using it other than with the pivoting fence method if you can, I never added the edge pieces so the fence attaches on both sides it is not nec.

299.99 a steal

Included: CMT 999.500.02 Industrio Router Table System With Precision Fence, Phenolic Insert, Cabinet, Zero Clearance Inserts, Centering Tool & Insert Plate With 2 Aluminum Rings

The discount comes up at check out:

Save 15% each on All CMT Accessories offered by Amazon.com when you purchase 1.

I just purchased a bunch of CMT bits to 15% off on all CMT and no ship or tax, they make great router bits.

Well, if she goes for it, the inlay would go into a newly installed 3/4" thick unfinished Bolivian Rosewood floor.  Just yesterday we finished the installation in the family room; the last of three rooms.  The three "rooms" include the dining room, the downstairs hall going from the front door to the family room, and of course, the family room.  About 700sf in all.  If she goes for the inlay, it would go in the floor between the kitchen and family room, or inside the front door.  Say, what is the diameter of the inlay?

I suspect we'll do the sanding and first clear coat in about 2-3 weeks.  Then we'll cover everything until after I trim out the "rooms" (wainscot, coffered ceiling, windows, etc...), paper and paint.

As for the ETS/3.  I was asking the question mainly about it's finishing capabilities.  I was reading the Festool catalog and looking at the differences between it, the 125 and the ETS/5.  The ETS/3 seems to fall directly in the middle.  Say, between the 125 and the ETS/5.  Which begs the observation and question.  If only one sander then it would be the ETS/3.  If two, then the 125 and ETS/5.  If money, or Festool acquisition, were no object, then it appears the 125 & ETS/5 combo would be the best because of the combined broader range of finishing capabilities.

I already have the RO150 for HD sanding jobs; and boy does it do a job!

My, that does look like a terrific buy.  It may just place me in the position of put up or shut-up and see if there is some place I can store the beast when not in use.

BTW Festool announced last year that the North American 3 year warranty IS transferable.  I agree that a new one is often better if the price is close however I have found some great deals on used Festool usually save about 50%. Examples of recent used purchases....

Rotex 150 = $250 included $75 worth of sand paper
MFT 1080 = $275 and was never used for cutting so (other then a bit of dirt) the table is in perfect condition.
1010 Router = $250 was brand new with receipt bought off classified ad

Now it ain't easy to find deals but they do exist and they ARE very much worth it! In fact the resale value and transferable warranty all add to the value of a festool investment.

Wow, didn't know that, I wonder how I determine what the original purchase date of some of my used stuff is?  I've just started picking up Festool stuff and am impressed so far.

Here is another way to save a tiny bit of green while picking up some green. Recently I enrolled into the Microsoft Live Search thing. Selected items will get you cash back. The nifty part is the 25% back from Ebay Buy-It-Now items. Their searches don't always come up with Festool on Ebay, you may be able to use "cheap wii" which will link to Ebay, followed by a subsequent search on 'festool'.

This is exactly what I, er... Ms. Claus, was hoping I could find.  However, so far, NADA...  I'll give it a few more days and see if anything appears.  While Christmas is, what, six weeks away..., I know I will need at least one of the items in the list; the longer rail for the LR32 Sys...

On top of that, nickao's heads-up to the sale of the CMT router table on Amazon, looks too good to pass up; if I can figure out where I could store it while not in use.

Then there's the ETS and, and, and...

So, anyone else out there has anything gathering dust and would like to free the poor little Festool from its lonely existence to allow it to run free with others of its kind in the chilly, or soon to be chilly, climes of New Jersey, please let me know.
