X-Mat is back

It looks like the Woodpecker X-Mat is back.  It one of the best reviewed Woodpecker accessories by any means.  I’m a bit surprised to see it released as a one time tool again.  It doesn’t really have enough clamping pressure and the X-connector can pull out on big pieces.

I guess if you’re just making smaller boxes and crafts your just fine.  The videos show large drawer assemblies being made.  Most professional reviewers don’t like the X-Mat for larger projects.

It’s a innovative idea. It would have been nice to see Woodpeckers refine the X-Mat to remove some of the play in the L-brackets.

It appears to be more of a "pre-sale" than a "one time tool" offering.  Orders due by Dec 1, with shipping by Dec 13.

Sale prices (or pre-order prices rather), seem to represent a substantial discount.  Reminds me of a clearance sale more than anything.

This is the third time they sold the x-mats.  They’ve done well with the novice woodworking crowd.  Most novices don’t realize it’s the box corner clamps doing 90% of the work in that set-up.  The joint and the flatness of the board determine the squareness of the box.

Huh, I thought these did terrible and that was why they went away. Now they are trying to make them a limited production product to help drive up desire?

It reminds me of the furniture store that constantly hangs the sign "going out of business sale", annually!

I’m not sure what the rest of the X-Mat system is for.  If you secure a box with 8 Woodpecker corner clamps with dowel, miter joint, Dominos, ect...the boards aren’t going to shift or move at all.
