I'd like to share my approach to boom arm problem.
It is a low cost solution and works fine for me.
Took me few weeks to work out the details and 2 evenings  to put it all together.
I have a room there for 2 extra hoses and 2 - 3 tools.

What are the blue & orange clamps holding the hose to the frame?

Rusty

A very good approach. Seems one of the best DIY  boom arm posted here.

More building details would be greatly appreciated since photos are relatively low resolution and don't allow for zooming on the details.

There seems to be several metal rods may be using some different material, some bent, some others straight and attached together using some device.

And what is the base made of ?

Rusty, those clamps are often found at Home Despot and Woodcraft.

Thank you.

The base and all "devices"  are made of black polyethylene strips, 30mm thick, 100 mm wide joined with 8 dominos.

The thicker 32 tubes (vertical) came from 2 my other shop vacs  (not festool). They are stainless steel with plastic sleeves. Very common.

The thinner 18mm tubes (horizontal) are telescopic shower curtain rods, also stainless steel.  They  expand and lock from 650 to over 1200 mm.

All together are joined with few short blocks made of the same black polyethylene 30x100mm.

And the black metal tubes? You will never guess. (A frame from my old office chair ....). I drilled few holes in it and fixed it to the polyethylene base with 8 wood screws.

I will try to make better pictures with more details.

Yes no way to guess. Brilliant .. I'm sure many of us will now look for old office chairs ....

Wow !
Nice done. Could you resize pictures to at least 800 x 600 ? Or just post them as they are (original resolution). It will take a bit longer to upload all of that again, but you've made a great boom arm and now everybody wants to copy your design.  [tongue] [embarassed]

Thanks.

Which particular photo you want. I can't post them all.

There were quite a few weren't there?  [wink]

Perhaps you could ZIP the higher resolution ones into a single file and attach that instead? That might help people out and making it easier to understand how you did what you did?

Tomorrow I will post a download link, but I must warn you  - uncompressed images are over 3 MB each.

How about a free Dropbox account link so that you can put all of the full rez pictures there and people can D/L what they want?

Here is the link to download all full size photos I have (it is over 300MB, so be patient).  That's the best I can do.

http://www.acpf.biz/boom_arm_gms.zip

Please let me know if you have are any problems downloading.

Good luck.

I have to remove the download link - This is a rented server and person who kindly let me use that site has
monthly limit of downloads 15 GB there.

There have been already 30 downloads of that file. That makes about 10 GB.  I didn't expect that much. I had to stop it.

Perhaps one of you guys who already downloaded it could help and post that file here? I can't do that.

Sorry.
