Yet another....Oh-No...Roubo

Jim,
Once You helped me figure out how to clamp the MFS, I used it with the 1400 and 2200 for just about everything. And the things I didn't use it for ...I wish I had. A prime example was the long mortice for the Sliding Deadman (on underside of the front top section). I used the 2200's parallel edge guide and had the depth of cut set a little too deep and the router proved to be way stronger than me! Had I used the MFS, the router just would have plowed right through with no problem. Figuring out the set up for the MFS can be intimidating at first, (especially if your looking for accuracy) but once you get used to it, it gets to be simple and very accurate. Once I figured it out the thing never got put away. I's hard not to love the balance and feel of the 2200, but understanding that amount of power is essential.

The Roubo is now done!  Yeah!
Here are a few more shots of the bench in its finished state.
The project had all of my Festools out of their systainers at some point. I don't have a table saw, band saw or lathe. I do have a 6" jointer and a 13" planer. The Kapex, the TS 75, and the OF 2200 (with the MFS) saw most of the action. Many hand tools were used as well. The plans for the bench as well as the hardware came from BenchCrafted. The plans were excellent and the hardware first rate.
Now I'm looking forward to putting this thing to use. My grand kids need a rocking horse!

Great work, Brian! I was very curious to see the finished product after talking to you about it at the router class. You've definitely made something to be proud of.

GhostFist,
I think there's enough room under the right side of the bench for a keg of Molson's.
Hey you have a few of those pesky Maple tree's up there, start cutting now and you could be done by the holidays.
Brian

Beautiful mate, great job. Any guestimate as to how many hours? Am sorely tempted to start on one myself after seeing this!!

Mattfc,
Hard to say how many hours. I didn't keep track of the project that way. I'm an amateur woodworker (hobbyist) and had mostly weekends to work on it with the occasional couple of hours in the evening throw in for good measure. What I do know is that I received the hardware and plans late August and purchased the first of the loads of Hard Maple in early September. The undercarriage was built first and then I had to wait 5 weeks for the lumberyard to get restocked, then picked up the last load of Maple for the bench tops lamination's. That wood was picked up on 10/20/2010. The project was finished 11/11/2010.

Did you see the Keg of Molson's I built? it's over 20' tall! Besides Molson's is a horrid beer, much prefer Guinness

GhostFist,
I saw the 20' keg somewhere, but never made the connection that it was done by you! That must of been one heck of a party.
How about a 25' Guinness Can next.
Brian

Easily done, just get the painters to change the label ha! Still wont fit under the bench though.
