Your Christmas gift awaits, fellas!

Lol. Iso this a dealer? If not, it looks like the seller raided a showroom and is now offering the contents for sale, judging by the pristine conditions of all the tools (except for the MFT).

I’m more interested in the petroliana signs.  [cool]

Just a quick look 👀, but his price seems a bit high. Pretty sure he’ll be able to gawk at his goods for a while longer.  [jawdrop]

I never understand these people that put a ton of money into stuff, hardly use it, and then sell it off again with a big loss.

Selling a large lot of any tools is guaranteed failure. I always laugh at the usual "won't sell individual items" nonsense. Enjoy staring at your unsold tools dude.

Yeah, same here. A big pricey lot like this is only interesting for a trader, and he'll want the lot a whole lot cheaper so he can make a profit. There's no private person who is going to spend that kind of money at once.

I haven't done the math, but 22.9k seems like not a deal at all.

Indeed, it's really not that much of a deal.

Life happens.

What if the wife died and he has to pony up because a child insists on being paid his/her part of the inheritance?

What if a divorce requires cash to buy something out?

What if a massive, unexpected bill showed up (think emergency repair on the house or the like) and the bank denied a/ another loan?

Good for those of us that have an extra 20k (or more) flying around for eventualities, but the truth is: many don't.

On a lighter note, maybe he is just done with it, doesn't want to invest time in selling it separately, doesn't need the cash immediately and just waits for a reasonable offer... Not for us to judge.

Kind regards,
Oliver

I think it might be Dovetail liquidating his junk:
http://festoolownersgroup.com/festool-tools-accessories/i-am-done/

I added up the major stuff , and asking price is more than replacement with 2017 prices.  Definitely more than he paid over the years given the 5% increases.  You will save a few hundred after adding accessories but not thousands as he claims.

Except you'll have little to no warranty on the gear.  Pretending it was a bundled ReCon sale, you'd be looking more in the neighborhood of 15-16k.

And he's gonna owe fleabay two grand +  in fees at the end.

Well that is a serious listing.  Good point Oliver, could certainly be a life event causing the need for instant cash.

No, most of the time it is just impulse buys and then they realise the stuff is just laying around there doing nothing.

To be honest I did that with the domino.  Sounded like fun at the time but since I don't make a living building cabinets or furniture for a living, it sat around collecting dust so I sold it.

You'll be glad to know it is well used and has a happy home.

Excellent! Glad you like it.  You have a very lovely daughter and son in law as well. I still remember meeting them and how they had no idea what this tool was for.  :)

Ed is the one who bought it. I just acted as the go between. He was looking or one and does not frequent the forums. Yours came up and I told him to go buy it.

You met Ed's daughter and son in law, they are both very nice people, clueless when it comes to tools, but nice none the less....

Same here, I have a DF700 in my bedroom, bought 3-4 years ago. Brand new and unused. Talked myself into it imaging building great doors and gates. Oh well.. one day maybe.

Very easy to become a tool collector in this game. Plus as others have said life sometimes gets in the way. I bought my first Bosch router off a guy on ebay who sadly had cancer and another tool from a guy getting divorced so had to leave the family home and firesale his workshop.

That’s not far from me...maybe I should try to talk him into parting some of that out ;)

Me neither (in HSV)...maybe we should get together and go pay him a visit!
