Grasshopper this is how I do my hvac vents. I bought another edge guide and some longer rods from Home Cheapo. I use Whiteside down spiral router bits and make multiple passes to limit tear out.

Curt:
Those are nice. Thanks for the photos.

Curt - what's the scoop on the clamp base for the kreg clamp? Homemade?

Is it attached to a dog? Some details please.

Thanks

Ron

Ron I ordered Precision plates and dogs and had extra hardware so I cut up a piece of a Woodpeckers router fence that I had a extra clamp for my work top. It works great and the price was right. The low profile dogs came to me threaded which enabled me to attach the Kreg clamp to the extrusion. I have the clamping elements which work great when you need low profile clamping but the self adjusting Bessey and Kreg clamps offer more range of clamping heights and are faster to use. I don't have an mft table but I do have a 32"x11' mft table top/ out feed.
Cheers

Curt,

What size whiteside bit do you like to use?

Grasshopper the bit I used was a 3/8" down cut spiral bit. I'll check for the Whiteside model number tomorrow for you. I made the ones I posted out of red oak which I made three passes on each to reduce the chance of tear out. On pine or popular you could get away with two passes.
Cheers

Thanks!

hi, I've used my of 1010 to cut flutes on to door surrounds, the easiest method I found was to get some longer guide rail bars, longer than the width of your Coloum, fit them to the router, and use 2 parallel fences so it basically sandwiches the timber, that way you can set your router where you want it along the bars
