i thought it would be interesting to know from as many users as possible, how many of their festools needed any kind of repair or service covered by the 3 year warranty.

i recently bought a unused RO150 in T-loc from someone who bought it for a job he didn't do in the end, for a very interesting price. he didn't ask the 3 year warranty in time, and it's not on my name anyway.
so i was wondering how interesting it really is to buy "almost new" without the extended warranty, or any warranty at all since my local festool dealer only takes in service tools purchased there.

anyway in my case it's 0% since i only have two tools that are older than 3 years, my 2008 kapex and my 2006 CT22, both bought used from professional shops where they were used and abused daily. still doing great!

My t-15 needed a new clutch and ended up getting full new motor. but it got worked hard but not abused. i have the t-18 now and sold the t-15 ,but i do mis it as the 18 torque settings arent as good for delicate stuff

Out of the ten or so Festools I own, I've only had to send back my domino for service, and this is a tool I purchased lightly used.  So about 10%.

Had it back in a week!

2 @ 100% within the first year.  Bought a sander used that went in before i bought it.  Just sent my two month old T15 in for clutch issues.  Kev what was wrong with yours, I've searched and haven't found many others with T-drill problems.  (you could pm me if afraid of going off topic)  I should know about mine next week.

- atf55, when it was in for repair I bought a ts55 (ts75 wasn't out yet),
- ts55 just within warranty (just an internal break of the powercord).
- kapex twice. (one time for the lasers, one time for the stuck fence and the guard (they didn't fix the guard, because when I turned it in, it magically didn't get stuck, but did so again right after I got it back).
- The ripfence for my cs70, (the back part wouldn't lock, turned out it was just a loose springlock washer (borgveer), the next time it got loose when it dropped out of the shelve in my van I easily reattached it myself
- protool pdc 18 (not really a festool, but in Holland done by the same servicecentre) after almost 2 years electronic problem, the problem also killed one battery, which also got replaced under warranty, but I had to send it back seperately after they returned the tool. (I didn't know it was broken when I sent it in the first time)

Percentagewise, I have about 11 other festools ( and 2 protool tools) which didn't need repair, and about 5 of them are older than 3 years.

My ETS150/3 OF1400 went back once under warranty for a faulty speed control board.

My Kapex has been back twice, IIRC - once for the sticking blade guard, and once for the sticking fence.

The blade guard problem has returned, and gradually got worse over time. Now it hardly ever goes back into place, but the saw is now out of warranty & I can't be bothered sending it back in.

I don't think any others have been back...

Reason for edit - my abysmal memory...

Five of my nine powered Festools are older than 3 years.  I had the RO150 serviced while attending a training class - in and out the same day.  Had to replace a bearing that was getting a bit noisy.  None of the other tools have required any service to date.

Not a pro, so this may not count, but I am in the shop 7 days a week and use multiple festools each session.
I have a rotex 150, ets 150/3, dts400, ls130, mft, wcr, ts55, of2200, 0f1400, 0f1010, vs600, tdk12, cxs, kapex, ct22, and domino.  Never had to send anything back.  Lester talked me through a Domino repair online and thats it.  A systainer and the mft were damaged in shipping. Festool sent a new systainer and a new piece of mft extrusion.  So I'm happy.

I've not had to send any back, mind you I'm a hobbyist so they don't get the wear and tear.

I had to get a switch replace on one of my C12.(under warranty)
My jigsaw was sent to get repaired(over 3 years) It was the blade guide assembly.
They also replaced the brushes and motor bearrings.
That's all so far.
I have;  2 c12;trion;kapex;rotex;1010 router;domino;deltex;ct 22;ts55;MFT 1080; and more accessories.

Well  1 tool  which is the T15+3 went back 4 times for repair with in a few months and I need to send it back again as its going funny again so that would be 5 times!  ( I think the T15 was a mistake by festool as I have heard so many people sending it back for repair in the UK even my dealer said the T15 is a joke as he has had no end come in for repair he claims the T18 seems promising so far)

My Jigsaw needs sending in I think cus it feels like it aint cutting right

All my other festool tools have been fine.

I dont kno the percentage cus the T15 went in 4 times going in for the 5th so how would you work that out towards percentage? Would you count every repair as another tool?

Is it just you using the product or is your crew using them?

Just me dude! No one else!   I take care of my tools I dont drop or throw them about I always place my drill down I dont cover it in dust or get it wet I get very paranoid if I drop a tool I hate it does my head in I have to play with it for an hour thinking it sounds different im sure it does cus of the drop or knock lol so I make sure I dont drive my self made and get paranoid by looking after them.      First time it went was with in 4 days so I dont think any one could abuse a tool da much in da short space of time!   but this time its not stoped working it just  fluctuates so even if you have the trigger fully pressed it speeds up and slows down randomly really odd!  Any way sorry 4 going off topic.

I have only had Festool send a replacement receptacle for my CT-22 (that I later discovered was serviceable) and replace a blade washer since buying my first Festool in 2006.

currently have:  TS55, Kapex, RO150, RAS 115.04, CT-22, T15+3, Domino, ETS150/3, TDK-12, OF1400.

I'm extremely happy with the quality and quality of service.

Do all Festool dealers only warrant tools purchased from them?  I wouldn't have guessed that to be the case, I would expect any dealer to service any Festools or at the least send it in to a service center.

for me the clutch went but they replace the full motor might be a sealed unit or something, but it took a couple of weeks to get done as they were waiting on parts. but i would have thought they would give out a spare drill when they fixing it but sadly not.

For the amount these tools cost I think too many have had to be sent back for repair, its a joke!
