ZERO-VOC Floor Finish

My son wants to refinish the dining room oak strip floor with a ZERO- VOC finish. He found  (RUBIO MONO). Has anyone used this? The recommend to "water pop the floor first". What does that mean? Water pop- apply water, it raises the grain, sand raised grain.

Zero VOC does not mean no odor.

Look at Bona also.

I have Rubio on my floors.  Wouldn't do it again- with kids it just stains too easily.  Maybe in a low traffic area.  You can refresh it, but I've never had the time or space to clear out the entire house for a day to do so.  Lots of good low/zero Voc finishes that are more cleanable.

Here's some good info on Rubio...I talked with these guys at length because they're right down the street from me. We even did some testing at their store, good people.
The info includes water popping, proper application and maintenance.

In the end I opted for Bona Traffic and I'm very happy with that decision. I may give Rubio a go on some windows & trim where wear isn't a factor.

Thanks for the reply's. I will try to push for Bono or pure tung oil. The time to dry is a factor. The dining room cuts the house in half. Thanks, Mark
