1010 fine adjustment

I used my 1010 for it's first project other than practice. I was cutting 1/4 by 1/4 dados in a piece of 3/4 plywood for some drawer guides. I had 50' of dado's and made two passes and the router was up to the task. The problem is that I wasn't able to cut a consistent depth in the dados. After a lot of wondering why, I noted that while routing, the vibration makes the adjustment wheel spin back and forth....Maybe as much as 1 mm. Is this normal or should it be fixed in one position? My fix to the problem was a piece of tape holding it in place. Anyone else have this problem?

Well I sure hope you do not have to use tape on such an expensive router to get it to work.

I have not noticed this problem at all, but then again I have not made 50' of dado with it at one time either.

I would say yours may be broken or needs tightening up some how.

I have had the same problem when I was morticing the jamb of an exterior door for a multi point lock. My "fix" was not using the fine adjustment and locking it by bottoming it out in one direction (just raise or lower it fully).
I think it's possilble to use the fine adjustment in initial setup, then, when you got the depth right, lock de router in that position, and "lock" and readjust the depth gauge.
