I store my rails in the roof of my truck cab and when i have to transport my fs3000 rail it fits along the diagonal on top of a box that sits in the truck bed. The rails are plenty durable but not meant to be tossed into the back of a truck bed, sliding around and bumping into things. You need a long straight edge to align the rails b4 fastening them together. I have 2-3000, 1-2700 and 1-1400 rails so I generally just use another rail as the straight edge. I check the straightness of the coupled rails b4 each cut. but have only had to adjust them after moving the rails around. If you are careful the stay straight.
